Setup

Initial Charge

Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is powered by light and does not require battery replacement. Upon receiving your watch, expose it to bright light (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours to ensure a full charge. The watch may enter a power-saving mode if stored in darkness for an extended period. A fully charged watch can operate for several months in total darkness.

Setting the Time Zone

This watch features atomic timekeeping, automatically synchronizing with atomic clocks in 26 time zones. To set your local time zone:

  1. Pull the crown out to the time setting position.
  2. Rotate the crown to select your desired city code (time zone). Refer to the city code list in the Specifications section.
  3. Push the crown back in to confirm the setting. The watch will then attempt to receive the time signal for the selected zone.

Manual Time Signal Reception

While the watch automatically attempts to receive the time signal daily, you can manually initiate reception:

  1. Ensure the watch is in an open area, away from electronic interference.
  2. Press and hold the lower right pusher for approximately 2 seconds until the second hand points to "RX" (Receive).
  3. Keep the watch still during reception (typically 2-10 minutes). The second hand will move to "OK" or "NO" to indicate success or failure.

Operating Instructions

Perpetual Calendar

The perpetual calendar automatically adjusts for odd/even months and leap years until February 28, 2100. No manual date adjustment is required under normal operation once the time zone is correctly set and the watch receives the atomic signal.

Using the Slide Rule Bezel

Your watch features an internal slide rule bezel, operated by the crown on the left side of the case. This can be used for various calculations such as multiplication, division, fuel consumption, and speed. For detailed instructions on specific calculations, please refer to the full user manual available on the Citizen website.

  • Multiplication/Division: Align the "10" on the inner scale with the multiplicand on the outer scale. Read the product on the outer scale opposite the multiplier on the inner scale.
  • Fuel Consumption: Align the "UNIT" mark on the inner scale with the fuel amount on the outer scale. Read the consumption rate on the outer scale opposite the distance on the inner scale.

Maintenance and Care

Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet). It is suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not for saturation diving. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in and screwed down (if applicable) before exposing the watch to water.

Cleaning

Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For the leather strap, avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals to prevent damage and discoloration. Clean the leather strap with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then dry thoroughly.

Storage

To maintain optimal performance of the Eco-Drive movement, store the watch in an area where it can be exposed to light, even if indirect. Avoid storing it in completely dark places for extended periods to prevent it from entering a deep power-saving state.
