1. Product Overview

The Kwikset Casey Keyed Entry Door Lever is designed for doors requiring enhanced security, such as exterior-facing doors. 3. Setup and Installation

Installation of the Kwikset Casey Door Lever is designed to be straightforward, requiring only a screwdriver. The reversible lever design accommodates both left-handed and right-handed doors.

3.1 Door Preparation

Ensure your door is prepared for a standard size lever, fitting doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick. The latch backset is adjustable to either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" by twisting during installation.

3.2 Installing the Lever

1. Insert the latch into the door edge and secure it with screws.
2. Align the exterior and interior levers, ensuring the spindle passes through the latch mechanism.
3. Secure the levers using the provided screws and Allen wrench. The reversible design allows for flexible orientation.

3.3 SmartKey Re-keying

The SmartKey Security feature allows you to re-key your lock in seconds, providing convenience and enhanced security.

1. Insert your functioning key and turn it 90 degrees clockwise.
2. Insert the SmartKey tool fully and firmly into the SmartKey hole.
3. Remove the SmartKey tool and the functioning key.
4. Insert your new key and turn it 180 degrees counter-clockwise.
5. Remove the new key. The lock is now re-keyed.

4. Operating Instructions

The Casey Keyed Entry Lever provides secure access with a key from the exterior and a thumb turn from the interior.

4.1 Locking and Unlocking

• Exterior: Insert the key into the cylinder and turn to lock or unlock the door.
• Interior: Use the thumb turn on the interior side of the lever to lock or unlock the door.

4.2 Understanding Lever Types

Kwikset offers various lever types for different applications. The Keyed Entry lever is designed for security, while other types like Passage and Privacy serve different functions:

• Keyed Entry: Locks with a key from the outside and a thumb turn from the inside. Ideal for exterior doors.
• Privacy: Locks with a push-button or turn-button from the inside, with an emergency release on the outside. Suitable for bedrooms and bathrooms.
• Passage: Non-locking levers used for hallways or closet doors where no locking mechanism is required.
• Dummy: Stationary, non-turning levers used for decorative purposes or on doors that do not require a latch.

The Kwikset Casey Door Lever features Microban antimicrobial protection, which helps keep the surface 99.9% cleaner than unprotected surfaces by disrupting bacterial cell growth.

• Regularly wipe the lever with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and grime.
• Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish and Microban protection.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Kwikset Casey Door Lever, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

• Lever not turning: Check for any obstructions around the lever or spindle. Ensure all screws are tightened correctly.
• Latching issues: Verify that the latch is properly aligned with the strike plate on the door frame. Adjust the strike plate if necessary.
• Key not working: If the key does not operate the lock smoothly, ensure it is fully inserted. If using SmartKey, attempt to re-key the lock following the instructions in Section 3.3.
• Loose lever: Tighten the set screws that secure the lever to the spindle.
