Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of your FLOWPAC FX701-Orange 12V DC Submersible Utility Sump Pump. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use, and retain it for future reference.

Important Safety Information

  • Always disconnect the power source (battery) before performing any maintenance or cleaning on the pump.
  • Do not operate the pump with no water. Dry running can cause severe damage to the motor and internal components.
  • Ensure proper electrical connections. Connect the red alligator clip to the positive (+) terminal and the black alligator clip to the negative (-) terminal of a 12-volt battery.
  • This pump is designed for clean or dirty water. It is not recommended for pumping flammable liquids, corrosive chemicals, or liquids above 120°F (49°C) or below 32°F (0°C).
  • Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the pump during operation.
  • Do not lift the pump by its power cord. Use the portable handle.
  • Ensure the pump is placed on a hard, level surface in the water to prevent clogging from mud, sand, silt, or rocky materials.

Setup Guide

1. Pump Placement

Install the pump on a hard, level surface in the water. If necessary, place bricks or patio blocks under the pump to raise it off the bottom. Do not place the pump directly in mud, sand, silt, or on rocky surfaces as these materials can clog or cause damage to the pump.

2. Hose Connection

Connect a hose to the pump discharge. Use either the supplied garden hose adapter or another hose fitting (sold separately). Choose the best size hose or pipe for your application. NOTE: To keep friction loss as low as possible, do not use a hose that is smaller than 3/4" inner diameter.

Operation Instructions

  1. Connect the red alligator clip to the positive (+) terminal on your 12-volt battery.
  2. Connect the black alligator clip to the negative (-) terminal on your battery.
  3. Turn on the pump power switch.
  4. The pump will start pumping in approximately 1" of water and will drain down to approximately 1/8"-1/4" of the surface.
  5. Do not let the pump run dry. The pump depends on water for cooling and lubrication. Operating the pump without water may cause the motor to overheat or cause damage to internal parts. It may also shorten the lifespan of your pump.
  6. This pump is equipped with an anti-airlock hole. A stream of water will emit from this hole when the pump is operating. This is a normal feature of this pump. The anti-airlock hole should be cleaned periodically to prevent the pump from becoming air locked.
  7. This pump is not recommended for pumping liquids over 120°F (49°C). Normal operation is for fluids between 32°F (0°C) and 120°F (49°C).
  8. Once done pumping, turn off the power switch.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pump.

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially when pumping dirty water, rinse the pump thoroughly with clean water. Inspect the intake screen for debris and clean it to prevent clogging.
  • Anti-Airlock Hole: Periodically check and clean the anti-airlock hole to ensure it is free from obstructions.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the pump in a dry, frost-free location. Ensure all water is drained from the pump to prevent freezing damage.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord and alligator clips for any signs of damage, fraying, or corrosion. Replace if necessary.
