Setup and Initial Charge

Initial Charging:

Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch requires an initial charge to function correctly. Expose the watch dial to a strong light source (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours. Avoid placing the watch in direct sunlight for extended periods in extremely hot environments, as this may cause damage.

  • For a full charge from a completely discharged state, expose to direct sunlight for approximately 11 hours, or to an incandescent lamp (30W at 20cm) for about 50 hours.
  • A low charge indicator (second hand moving in two-second intervals) signifies the need for charging.

Setting the Time and Date:

  1. Unscrew the Crown: Locate the crown on the right side of the watch case. Rotate it counter-clockwise until it springs out.
  2. Pull the Crown to Position 2: Gently pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
  3. Set the Date: Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Adjust the date to the day before the current date.
  4. Pull the Crown to Position 3: Pull the crown out to the third click position.
  5. Set the Time: Rotate the crown to advance the hour and minute hands. Continue rotating until the date changes to the current date, then set the correct time. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set (the date changes at midnight).
  6. Push and Screw Down the Crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back in and screw it clockwise firmly against the case to ensure water resistance.

  2. Stop: Press the upper pusher (A) again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be displayed by the chronograph hands.
  3. Reset: Press the lower pusher (B) to reset the chronograph. All chronograph hands will return to their zero positions.

Using the Depth Meter:

This watch is equipped with a depth meter for diving. Ensure the crown is securely screwed down before entering water.

  • The depth meter automatically activates when submerged in water.
  • The depth hand indicates the current depth.
  • The maximum depth reached during a dive is typically recorded and can be recalled after the dive. Refer to the full manual for specific recall procedures.
  • Always check the depth meter's functionality before each dive.

Dive Bezel:

The unidirectional rotating bezel can be used to measure elapsed time during a dive or other activities.

  1. Rotate the bezel counter-clockwise to align the zero mark with the minute hand at the start of your activity.
  2. Read the elapsed time by noting the position of the minute hand against the bezel markings.

Maintenance and Care

Charging Guidelines:

  • Regularly expose your watch to light to maintain a sufficient charge.
  • Avoid prolonged storage in dark places, which can lead to complete discharge and require a longer recharge time.
  • Do not expose the watch to extreme temperatures during charging.

Cleaning:

  • After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth.
  • For general cleaning, wipe the case and strap with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Water Resistance:

  • Ensure the crown is always screwed down tightly before exposing the watch to water.
  • Do not operate the pushers or crown while the watch is submerged in water.
  • Water resistance is not a permanent condition and may be affected by aging gaskets or accidental impacts. Regular inspection by an authorized service center is recommended.

Strap Care:

The rubber strap is durable but can be affected by prolonged exposure to chemicals or extreme temperatures. Clean it regularly with mild soap and water.
