2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the clock.
  2. Insert one (1) AA alkaline battery, ensuring the polarity (+/-) matches the indicators inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.

2.2 Initial Placement and Radio Wave Reception

For optimal performance, place the clock near a window where it can easily receive radio wave signals. Avoid locations that may interfere with reception, such as:

  • Inside buildings, basements, or areas with thick concrete walls.
  • Near high-voltage lines, TV towers, or train rails.
  • Close to electronic appliances like TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, computers, or fax machines.
  • Construction sites, airports, or areas with high radio interference.
  • Inside vehicles (cars, trains, airplanes).
  • Near or over metal furniture like steel desks.

After battery installation, the clock will attempt to receive radio waves and set the time automatically. This process may take several minutes.

2.3 Wall Mounting

The included hanging bracket/screw is designed for wooden pillars or wooden walls only. Do not use on plasterboard or other non-wood wall surfaces. When hanging, gently move the clock up, down, left, and right to ensure the hands are not touching each other.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Automatic Time Synchronization (Radio Controlled Function)

The Seiko KX267B is a radio-controlled clock that receives standard time signals (40 kHz/60 kHz automatic selection) to automatically correct its display time. This ensures high accuracy without manual adjustment.

3.2 Manual Radio Wave Reception

If the clock does not synchronize automatically or if you wish to force a reception:

  1. Press the RESET button on the back of the clock to initiate reception.
  2. To confirm reception status, press the WAVE button. A lamp indicator will show the status:
    • Receiving: The clock is attempting to synchronize.
    • Reception Successful: Time has been set.
    • Reception Failed: Move the clock to a location with better signal reception.

When radio waves are not received, the clock operates with quartz accuracy.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Replacement

Replace the AA alkaline battery when the clock stops or its movement becomes erratic. Always use a fresh, high-quality AA alkaline battery for optimal performance.

4.2 Cleaning

To clean the clock, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these may damage the finish or internal components.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Clock Not Keeping Accurate Time

  • Check Battery: Ensure the battery is fresh and correctly installed. Replace if necessary.
  • Radio Wave Reception: The clock may be in a location with poor radio wave reception. Refer to Section 2.2 for optimal placement guidelines. Try moving the clock to a different location, preferably near a window, and press the RESET button to initiate a new reception attempt.
  • Interference: Ensure the clock is not near electronic devices or metal objects that could cause interference.

5.2 Hands Are Stuck or Not Moving Smoothly

  • Check for Obstructions: Ensure no foreign objects are obstructing the hands.
  • Mounting: If wall-mounted, gently adjust the clock to ensure the hands are not touching each other or the dial.
