Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Unpack and Identify Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Refer to the package contents diagram to ensure all pieces are present. The main gate, extensions (if needed), tension bolts, wall cups, and a wrench should be included.

  2. Add Extensions (If Needed): Measure your doorway or opening. If the main gate is not wide enough, attach the appropriate extensions by sliding them into the main gate's frame until they click securely into place.

  3. Insert Tension Bolts: Insert the four tension bolts into the holes at each corner of the gate frame. Ensure the wall cups are attached to the bolts (without sticky pads at this stage).
  4. Position the Gate: Place the gate in the desired opening. Ensure the bottom bar is flush with the floor.
  5. Tighten Tension Bolts: Begin to rotate the tension bolts by hand. You will notice a gap between the gate door and the main frame. IMPORTANT: DO NOT cut off the belt/strap connecting the gate door to the frame before installation. This gap is NOT a defect; it is part of the pressure-mounted design. Continue tightening the bolts until the gap between the gate door and the main frame begins to close. Use the provided wrench for final tightening.

  6. Secure the Gate: Continue tightening the tension bolts evenly until the gate is firmly secured in the opening and the gap between the gate door and the main frame is minimal or completely closed. The gate should feel stable and not easily move.
  7. Cut the Installation Strap: Once the gate is securely installed and the gap has closed, you may cut the plastic strap that held the gate door to the frame during shipping.
  8. Test Security: Push and pull on the gate to ensure it is firmly in place and cannot be dislodged. Test the opening and closing mechanism.

Optional: Wall Cups and Stair Installation

For added security or when installing at the top of stairs, you can use the included wall cups with sticky pads or screws. For rounded banisters, Y-pressure mounts are available (sold separately or included with specific models) to provide a secure fit.

Operating Instructions

The Cumbor Baby Gate is designed for convenient and safe operation.

  • Opening the Gate: To open the gate, slide the safety lock button and lift the gate door simultaneously. The gate can be opened with one hand.
  • Auto-Close Feature: The gate door will automatically swing shut and lock when opened to an angle less than 90 degrees. This ensures the gate is always securely closed behind you.
  • 90-Degree Hold-Open: When the gate door is opened to a full 90-degree angle, it will remain open, allowing for multiple pass-throughs without needing to re-open the gate each time.
  • Double-Lock Safety Release: For enhanced security, the gate features a double-lock mechanism to prevent children or pets from opening it unintentionally. Ensure both locking points engage when closing the gate.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your Cumbor Baby Gate, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the gate regularly with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
  • Check Tension Bolts: Periodically check the tension bolts to ensure they remain tight and the gate is securely installed. Re-tighten if any looseness is detected.
  • Inspect for Damage: Regularly inspect the gate for any signs of wear, damage, or loose parts. Do not use the gate if it is damaged.
  • Lubrication: If the hinge mechanism becomes stiff, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the moving parts.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter with your Cumbor Baby Gate:

  • Gate Door Gap: If there is a gap between the gate door and the main frame before or during initial installation, this is normal and NOT a defect. The gap will close as the tension bolts are tightened and the gate is properly secured in the opening. Refer to the installation video and steps for clarification.
  • Gate Feels Loose: If the gate feels wobbly or loose after installation, re-tighten all four tension bolts evenly until the gate is firm and secure. Ensure the wall cups are flush against the surface.
  • Gate Not Latching Properly: Check if the gate is level and the tension bolts are tightened evenly. Uneven tension can cause misalignment. Adjust the tension bolts until the latch mechanism aligns and engages smoothly.
  • Difficulty Opening/Closing: Ensure there are no obstructions around the gate. If the mechanism is stiff, apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the hinges.
