CENMING FAN28R FAN-53T

Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control Kit User Manual

Model: FAN28R FAN-53T | Brand: CENMING

Product Overview

The CENMING Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control Kit is designed to provide convenient wireless control over your 110V 3-speed AC ceiling fan and its integrated light. This kit is compatible with most downrod style ceiling fans from various brands, including Harbor Breeze, Hampton Bay, Hunter, and Litex. It allows for independent control of fan speed (High, Medium, Low, Off) and light functions (On/Off, Dimming).

The light dimming feature is compatible with incandescent light bulbs and some dimmable LED lights. For most LED lights and all CFL lamps, the dimming function may only support On/Off, and flickering may occur if dimming is attempted with non-dimmable bulbs.

Compatibility

This remote control kit is designed for broad compatibility with most 110V 3-speed AC ceiling fans. It is suitable for replacement or upgrade of existing ceiling fan controls.

  • Compatible with: Harbor Breeze, Hampton Bay, Hunter, Litex, Home Decorators Collection, and other similar 3-speed AC ceiling fans.
  • Recommended for: Most downrod style fans.
  • Not recommended for: Hugger style fans, wall-mounted fans, or exhaust-type fans.

Regarding lighting, the dimmer function works with incandescent light bulbs and certain dimmable LED lights. Non-dimmable LED lights and all CFL lamps will only support the On/Off function, and attempting to dim them may cause flickering.

Setup & Installation

WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect power by removing the fuse or switching off the circuit breaker before installation. Do not use with solid state fans. Electrical wire must meet all local and national electrical code requirements. Supply for fan must be 110/120 volt, 60Hz. Maximum fan motor amps: 1.0. Maximum light watts: 240 incandescent or ballast.

1. Setting the Codes (DIP Switches)

Both the remote control and the receiver unit have DIP switches that must be set to the same code for proper communication. The factory setting is typically "all up" or "ON", but you should match the settings of your existing receiver or choose a unique combination if installing new.

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
  2. Locate the small red or blue DIP switch block (labeled 1, 2, 3, 4).
  3. Using a small pointed object (like a pen or small screwdriver), set the switches to match the code on your existing ceiling fan receiver. If installing new, choose any combination, ensuring the receiver's switches match.

2. Installing the Receiver in the Ceiling Fan

The FAN28R receiver is designed to be installed within the canopy of your ceiling fan. Ensure power is disconnected before proceeding.

  1. Turn off power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker.
  2. Remove the canopy cover of your ceiling fan to access the wiring.
  3. Connect the receiver wires to the fan and house wiring according to the provided wiring diagram. Typically, this involves matching colors:
    • Receiver "AC IN L" (Black) to House "Hot" (Black)
    • Receiver "AC IN N" (White) to House "Neutral" (White)
    • Receiver "TO MOTOR L" (Black) to Fan "Motor" (Black)
    • Receiver "TO MOTOR N" (White) to Fan "Motor" (White)
    • Receiver "TO LIGHT" (Blue) to Fan "Light" (Blue)
    • Ground wires (Green/Bare Copper) should be connected together.
  4. Carefully tuck all wires and the receiver into the fan canopy.
  5. Reattach the canopy cover.
