Receiver of Remote Control
GENERAL INFORMATION
The FAN28R receiver is designed to independently control your ceiling fan's speed (HI, MED, LOW, OFF) and light brightness (ON, OFF, DIMMING). It is compatible with ceiling fans that require a remote control (remote not included).
This FAN28R Ceiling Fan Remote Control Receiver operates at 240w and uses a radio frequency of 303.9MHz. It features a 5-wire configuration and serves as a replacement for models such as the 28R FAN18R 18R, Fan-HD FAN-53T, and FAN-35T1.
For installation, ensure the ceiling fan is set to "HIGH SPEED" and the light is in the "ON" condition via the wall switch knob.
Installation and Operating Instructions
Safety Precautions
- WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect power by removing the fuse or switching off the circuit breaker before installation or servicing.
- Do not use with solid state fans.
- All electrical wiring must comply with local and national electrical code requirements.
- The power supply for the fan must be 110/120 volt, 60Hz.
- Maximum fan motor amperage is 1.0A.
- Maximum light wattage is 240W for incandescent bulbs or ballast-equipped fixtures.
- Failure to adhere to these safety guidelines can result in serious injury or death.
Setting the Code Combinations
Setting the Code on the Remote (Transmitter)
Follow these steps to set the code:
- Remove the battery cover from the transmitter by sliding it off.
- Use a small screwdriver or ballpoint pen to slide the code switches (refer to Fig. A) to your desired up or down positions. Note: The factory setting is all switches in the 'up' position; this specific combination should not be used.
- Replace the battery cover on the transmitter.
Setting the Code on the Receiver
- Slide the code switches on the receiver unit (refer to Fig. B) to match the exact positions you set on your transmitter.
Diagram Descriptions
Transmitter Code Switches (Fig. A): This diagram shows the DIP switches located on the transmitter, typically found under the battery compartment, used to configure the remote's unique code.
Receiver Code Switches (Fig. B): This diagram illustrates the DIP switches on the receiver unit itself, which must be set to mirror the code combination selected on the transmitter.
Note: The visual representations of the remote and receiver in diagrams may differ from your specific product.
Installing Receiver in the Ceiling Fan (Canopy Receiver only)
Safety Warning
WARNING: High voltage! Household electrical power can cause serious injury or death. Always disconnect the source of electrical power to the ceiling fan by removing the fuse or switching off the circuit breaker before proceeding with installation.
Installation Steps
- Carefully remove the ceiling fan canopy from its mounting bracket.
- Disconnect the existing wiring connecting the ceiling fan to the power supply at the electrical junction box. If you are replacing a previously installed receiver, disconnect all its wires.
- Position the black antenna wire on top of the receiver unit and place the receiver into the mounting bracket (refer to Fig. C).
- Make the necessary wire connections using the provided wire nuts, following the guide below (refer to Fig. D).
CONNECT (Receiver Wire) | TO (Fan/Supply Wire) |
---|---|
Green fan wire | Bare supply wire |
Red receiver wire (AC IN L) | Black supply wire |
White receiver wire (AC IN N) | White supply wire |
White receiver wire (TO MOTOR N) | White fan wire |
Black receiver wire (TO MOTOR L) | Black fan wire |
Blue receiver wire (FOR LIGHT) | Blue lights wire |
- Carefully push all connected wires up into the junction box.
- Reinstall the ceiling fan canopy onto the mounting bracket.
- Restore the electrical power to the fan.
Diagram Descriptions
Receiver Placement (Fig. C): This illustration shows the receiver unit being placed inside the ceiling fan's mounting bracket, with the antenna wire oriented on top.
Wiring Diagram (Fig. D): This diagram details the essential wiring connections. The AC power supply wires (typically White for Neutral, Black for Line, and Bare for Ground) connect to the receiver's input terminals (White to AC IN N, Black to AC IN L, Bare to Ground). The receiver's output wires connect to the fan motor (White to MOTOR N, Black to MOTOR L) and the light fixture (Blue to lights wire).
