4. Gameplay

4.1. Objective

The objective of Monopoly Bid is to be the first player to collect three complete property sets.

4.2. Playing a Round

The game is played in rounds, with each player taking a turn as the auction host. A round consists of the following phases:

  1. Draw Cards: At the start of their turn, each player draws 2 Money Cards from the Money Draw Pile.
  2. Host an Auction: The current player (host) draws the top card from the Property Draw Pile and places it face up in the center. This card is now up for auction.
  3. Blind Bidding: All players, including the host, decide how many Money Cards they want to bid for the property. They select their chosen Money Cards and hold them face down in their hand.
  4. "1, 2, 3, Bid!": The host counts "1, 2, 3, Bid!" On "Bid!", all players simultaneously reveal their chosen Money Cards.
  5. Winning the Bid: The player who bid the highest total value of Money Cards wins the property. They pay their bid by placing the Money Cards into a discard pile. The winning player adds the property card to their collection.
  6. Tie-Breaker: If there's a tie for the highest bid, the tied players bid again using only 1 Money Card each. The highest single card wins. If still tied, the property goes back to the bottom of the Property Draw Pile.
  7. Action Cards: If an Action Card is drawn, its effect is immediately resolved. Action Cards can allow players to steal properties, draw extra cards, or change the game in other ways.
  8. End of Turn: After the property is awarded or the Action Card is resolved, the next player clockwise becomes the new host.
