Operating Instructions

1. Observing and Capturing Images

  1. With the lens attached and the LED light on, position your smartphone's camera over the subject you wish to observe.
  2. The optimal working distance between the microscope lens and the observed object is very close, approximately 0.14-0.17 inches (3.6-5mm). Slowly move your phone closer to or further from the subject until it appears in focus on your screen.
  3. Use your phone's digital zoom function to further magnify the image up to 100x.
  4. To prevent your phone's camera from automatically switching lenses or adjusting focus, utilize the 'hold' or 'AE/AF Lock' feature in your camera app, if available. This locks the exposure and focus on the primary lens.
  5. Capture photos or videos as you normally would with your smartphone camera.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Lens: Use the provided cleaning cloth to gently wipe the lens surfaces. DO NOT use alcohol or harsh chemicals, as this may damage the lens coatings.
  • Storage: When not in use, keep the lens cover closed to protect the lens from dust and scratches. Store the lens in a dry, clean environment.
  • Charging: Recharge the LED light as needed. Avoid overcharging for extended periods.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Unclear or blurry images.
Solution: Ensure the lens is properly aligned with your phone's primary camera. Adjust the working distance (0.14-0.17 inches / 3.6-5mm) by slowly moving the phone closer to or further from the subject until the image is sharp. Make sure the built-in LED light is on and fully charged to provide adequate illumination.
Issue: Phone camera keeps switching lenses or losing focus.
Solution: Many smartphone camera apps have an 'AE/AF Lock' or 'hold' feature. Tap and hold on the screen where you want to focus to activate this lock. This will prevent the camera from automatically adjusting focus or switching to other lenses, which can happen when working at very close distances.
Issue: LED light is not turning on or is dim.
Solution: Ensure the lens cover is fully slid open to activate the LED. If the light is dim or not turning on, the battery may be low. Recharge the device using the provided USB cable for approximately 1.5 hours.
