Setup

1. Assemble the Tripod

Unfold the aluminum tripod legs and extend them to your desired height. Secure the legs using the locking clamps. The tripod is adjustable from 16.1 inches (41cm) to 51.6 inches (131cm) for comfortable viewing.

2. Attach the Telescope Tube

Locate the mounting bracket on the telescope tube. Align it with the tripod head and secure it using the provided screws or quick-release mechanism. Ensure the tube is firmly attached and balanced.

3. Install the Finderscope

Slide the 5x24 finderscope into its mounting bracket on the main telescope tube. Tighten the small screws to hold it in place. The finderscope helps in quickly locating objects before observing them with the main telescope.

4. Insert the Diagonal Prism

Insert the 45° erect diagonal prism into the focuser tube of the telescope. Secure it by tightening the small thumbscrew on the focuser. This prism provides an erect (non-inverted) image, which is ideal for terrestrial viewing and makes celestial observation more intuitive.

5. Attach the Eyepiece

Insert either the K25mm or K6mm eyepiece into the diagonal prism. Secure it with the thumbscrew. The K25mm eyepiece offers lower magnification and a wider field of view, while the K6mm eyepiece provides higher magnification for more detailed views.

6. Optional: Use the Barlow Lens

For even higher magnification, insert the 3X Barlow lens into the diagonal prism first, then insert your chosen eyepiece into the Barlow lens. This will treble the magnifying power of the eyepiece.

7. Optional: Attach the Phone Adapter

The adjustable phone adapter allows you to capture photos and videos through the telescope. Attach the phone adapter to an eyepiece, then secure your smartphone to the adapter. Adjust the phone's camera to align with the eyepiece for optimal viewing and capture.

Operating Instructions

1. Locating Objects with the Finderscope

Before using the main telescope, use the finderscope to locate your desired object. Look through the finderscope and center the object in its crosshairs. Once centered, the object should be visible in the main telescope's eyepiece.

2. Focusing the Image

Once an object is in view, slowly turn the focus knob on the focuser tube until the image appears sharp and clear. You may need to make minor adjustments as the object moves across the sky.

3. Adjusting Observation Angle

The telescope can be adjusted by 180° in the vertical direction and 360° in the horizontal direction, allowing for flexible observation of various targets.

4. Using the Moon Filter

For observing the moon, screw the metal moon filter onto the bottom of your chosen eyepiece. This filter reduces the brightness of the moon, enhancing contrast and allowing for more comfortable and detailed viewing of lunar features.

Figure 8: The moon filter improves lunar observation by reducing glare.

5. Magnification Calculation

The magnification of your telescope is determined by the focal length of the telescope divided by the focal length of the eyepiece. If using the 3X Barlow lens, multiply the result by 3.

The telescope offers a magnification range of 15X to 180X.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Image is blurry or out of focus.Incorrect focus setting.Adjust the focus knob slowly until the image is sharp.
Cannot find objects.Finderscope not aligned or object is outside field of view.Align the finderscope with the main telescope. Use the finderscope to locate the object first, then fine-tune with the main telescope.
Image is inverted or reversed.Diagonal prism not used or incorrect type for terrestrial viewing.Ensure the 45° erect diagonal prism is correctly installed for erect images.
Telescope shakes or is unstable.Tripod legs not fully extended or secured.Ensure tripod legs are fully extended and all locking clamps are tightened. Place on a firm, level surface.
