Installation
Before starting the installation, ensure the main water supply to your kitchen is turned off. Remove any existing faucet and thoroughly clean the sink or countertop surface.
Video: This video provides a step-by-step guide on how to install the GROHE Essence Kitchen Faucet, covering preparation, faucet body installation, sprayhead connection, and hose connections.
Step 1: Installing the Faucet Body
- Slide the washer onto the faucet body.
- Slide the hot and cold water hoses through the sink opening.
- Underneath the sink, install the mounting hardware. Push the locknut up the threaded mounting shank and tighten to secure the faucet.
- If you have a semi-pro or SmartControl faucet, you will need to add the black washer, then the grey washer, before tightening the nut. Ensure washers and support are in the correct order, or the nut will not tighten properly.
Step 2: Connecting the Sprayhead
- Above the sink, find the sprayhead and push the end of the spray hose into the connector. Hand-tighten the chrome collar on the hose only.
- Slide the other end of the hose through the spout and through the mounted faucet body. Secure the spout onto the faucet body.
- Underneath the sink, slide the weight onto the hose coming from the sprayhead, but do not tighten yet.
- Attach the quick coupler to the end of the hose. Hand-tighten only.
- Pull down on the collar of the quick coupler and connect it to the faucet feed. Release. Gently tug on the hose to make sure the connection is secure.
- Slide the weight to just above the bend of the hose. Tighten the screws to secure.
Step 3: Connecting the Hoses to Water Supply
- Avoid stretching, kinking, and sharp bends when attaching the inlet hoses.
- Connect the hoses to the water supply: hot water on the left, cold water on the right.
- Open the hot and cold water supply valves and check that all connections are watertight.

Maintenance
To maintain the appearance and functionality of your GROHE faucet, follow these simple guidelines:
- Cleaning: Clean the faucet regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Durable Finishes: The GROHE StarLight coating maintains luster on both brushed and polished finishes, ensuring long-lasting shine with proper care.
- Drip-Free Performance: Your faucet is equipped with a quality ceramic disc valve designed for drip-free performance. If dripping occurs, consult the troubleshooting section or contact customer support.
- Aerator Maintenance: Periodically remove and clean the aerator using the provided aerator tool to ensure optimal water flow and prevent mineral buildup.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your GROHE Essence faucet, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Low Water Pressure: Check if the water supply valves under the sink are fully open. Ensure the aerator is clean and free of debris. Some European designs include a flow restrictor; consult a professional if you suspect this is the cause and wish to address it.
- Leaking: Verify that all connections made during installation are securely tightened. Ensure washers are correctly seated. If leaks persist, turn off the water supply and contact customer support.
- Difficulty Adjusting Temperature/Volume: Ensure the SmartControl button and temperature dial are free from obstructions. If controls feel stiff or unresponsive, contact customer support.
- Sprayhead Not Retracting: Check if the hose weight is properly positioned and secured, allowing for smooth retraction. Ensure the hose is not kinked or obstructed underneath the sink.
