Installation
- Locate Filter Compartment: Open your refrigerator and locate the water filter compartment. This is typically found in the top right corner of the fresh food section or within the door.
- Remove Old Filter: Gently open the filter cover. Rotate the old filter cartridge counter-clockwise (usually a quarter turn) until it disengages from the housing. Pull the filter straight out. A small amount of water may drip, which is normal.
- Prepare New Filter: Remove the new GE XWFE filter from its packaging. Ensure the protective cap is removed from the end of the filter.
- Install New Filter: Align the new filter with the filter housing. Push the filter firmly into the housing and rotate it clockwise (a quarter turn) until it locks securely into place. You should feel it click.
- Close Compartment: Close the filter compartment cover.
- Flush the System: Dispense approximately 2 gallons of water through the dispenser to flush the system. This removes any air from the lines and carbon fines from the new filter. Discard the first few batches of ice produced after replacement.
