Setup and Installation

Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Upon receiving your Simrad NSS12 Evo3S, carefully unpack all components. Verify that all included items are present: the NSS12 Evo3S unit, Power Cable, Sun Cover, Dash Mount Kit, and Edge Bezels. Inspect the unit and accessories for any signs of damage incurred during shipping. If any damage is found or components are missing, contact your dealer immediately.

Mounting the Unit

The NSS12 Evo3S is designed for dashboard mounting. Use the provided Dash Mount Kit for secure installation. Ensure the mounting location provides adequate ventilation and is free from excessive heat or direct sunlight. Refer to the detailed mounting template included in the separate installation guide for precise hole drilling and secure fastening.

Power Connection

Connect the unit to a Direct DC Power source using the supplied Power Cable. Ensure the power source meets the voltage requirements specified in the technical specifications section to prevent damage. Proper wiring and fuse protection are essential for safe operation.

Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off

To power on the unit, press and hold the power button located on the right side of the display until the Simrad logo appears. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the shutdown options appear, then select 'Power Off'.

Navigating the Interface

The NSS12 Evo3S features both an intuitive all-weather touchscreen with multi-touch gestures and a full-featured keypad with a rotary control dial for versatile operation. You can switch seamlessly between touch and physical controls based on your preference and environmental conditions.

Charting and Navigation

Access the Chart application from the main menu. The preloaded C-MAP US Enhanced charts provide detailed inland and coastal navigation data. You can set waypoints by simply pressing the designated waypoint button on the keypad or by touching the desired location on the screen and confirming. The unit supports advanced navigation features including route planning and track recording.

Sonar and Fish Finding

Autopilot Integration

Maintenance

Cleaning the Display

Troubleshooting

No Power

No Sonar Data

If you are not receiving sonar data, check the transducer connection to the unit. Ensure the transducer is properly submerged and free from obstructions. Verify that the correct transducer type is selected in the unit's settings. Adjust gain and range settings as needed.

GPS Signal Loss
