1. Introduction and Overview
The OREI UHD-EXB400R-K is a professional-grade 4K HDMI over Ethernet Extender Balun designed to transmit uncompressed UltraHD 4K video and audio signals over long distances. Utilizing HDBaseT technology, this extender ensures lossless and lag-free transmission of 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) content, supporting HDR, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and CEC. It extends HDMI signals up to 400 feet over a single CAT5e/6/7 LAN cable. The system also features bi-directional IR control and RS-232 command control for enhanced flexibility, along with Power over Cable (PoC) for simplified power management.

4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to set up your OREI UHD-EXB400R-K HDMI Extender:
- Connect HDMI Source to Sender: Connect your HDMI source device (e.g., Blu-ray player, game console, PC) to the HDMI IN port on the Sender unit using a high-quality HDMI cable.
- (Optional) Connect Local Display: If you wish to monitor the signal locally, connect an HDMI display to the HDMI OUT (Loop Out) port on the Sender unit.
- Connect Sender to Receiver via LAN Cable: Run a single CAT5e/6/7 LAN cable between the RJ45 ports on the Sender and Receiver units. Ensure the cable is properly terminated and meets HDBaseT specifications for optimal performance and distance.
- Connect Receiver to Remote Display: Connect the HDMI OUT port on the Receiver unit to your remote HDMI display (e.g., TV, projector) using a high-quality HDMI cable.
- (Optional) Connect Audio Output: If desired, connect external audio equipment to the AUDIO OUT port on the Receiver unit.
- (Optional) Connect IR Cables: For bi-directional IR control, connect the IR Blaster cable to the IR OUT port on the Sender and position the emitter near your source device's IR receiver. Connect the IR Receiver cable to the IR IN port on the Receiver and position the receiver to face your remote control.
- (Optional) Connect RS-232: For RS-232 control, connect your control device to the RS-232 port on both the Sender and Receiver units using the provided quick disconnects.
- Apply Power: Connect the provided power adapter to either the Sender or Receiver unit. Due to Power over Cable (PoC) functionality, only one unit needs to be powered.
- Power On Devices: Power on all connected devices (source, displays, extender). The extender units will perform a power-on self-test and establish connections.

5. Operating Instructions
Once the setup is complete and all devices are powered on, the OREI UHD-EXB400R-K will automatically transmit the HDMI signal. No additional configuration is typically required for basic operation.
- Bi-directional IR Control: Use your original remote control at either the source or display location. The IR Blaster and Receiver cables will relay the signals, allowing you to control devices remotely.
- CEC Pass-through: If your connected devices support CEC, they should communicate and control each other as usual through the extender.
- HDMI Loop-out: The local display connected to the Sender's HDMI Loop Out port will mirror the content being sent to the remote display.
- Audio Output: The dedicated audio output on the Receiver allows you to extract the audio signal from the HDMI stream and route it to a separate audio system for enhanced sound.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, please refer to the following troubleshooting tips:
- No Picture/Signal Loss:
- Ensure all HDMI and LAN cables are securely connected.
- Verify that the power adapter is connected and the power LED on the active unit is illuminated.
- Check the length and quality of your LAN cable. For best results, use high-quality CAT6/7 cable.
- Try connecting the HDMI source directly to the display to confirm the source and display are functioning correctly.
- Power cycle all devices (source, extender units, display).
- IR Control Not Working:
- Ensure the IR Blaster and Receiver cables are correctly plugged into their respective ports (IR OUT on Sender, IR IN on Receiver).
- Verify the IR emitter (Blaster) is positioned directly over the IR sensor of the source device.
- Ensure the IR receiver is positioned to receive signals from your remote control.
- HDBaseT Compatibility: OREI HDBaseT models are designed to work only with their own matching transmitter and receiver. They are not interchangeable with other OREI HDBaseT models, nor compatible with HDBaseT devices from other brands, due to chipset differences. Always use the included or recommended pair from the same model.
