PetSafe Analog 2-Meal Programmable Pet Feeder Instruction Manual

Model: PFD00-17004

Introduction

The PetSafe Analog 2-Meal Programmable Pet Feeder is designed to provide scheduled meals for your pet, offering convenience and portion control. This feeder can dispense up to two meals of dry or semi-moist food at pre-set times, helping to maintain your pet's feeding routine even when you are away.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The feeder requires one (1) AA alkaline battery (not included) to power the timer mechanism. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the feeder. Open the compartment, insert the battery, ensuring correct polarity, and close the cover securely.

2. Filling Food Compartments

Each compartment of the feeder can hold up to 1.5 cups of dry or semi-moist pet food. To fill, open the feeder lids. Place the desired amount of food into each of the two removable trays. Ensure the food is level to prevent obstruction of the lid mechanism.

3. Setting Meal Times

The feeder features two independent dial timers, one for each compartment. To set a meal time, rotate the dial to the desired number of hours from the current moment. The dials allow scheduling in 0.5-hour increments, up to 24 hours in advance. For example, if you set a dial to '5', the corresponding compartment will open approximately 5 hours from the time of setting. Ensure the lids are closed properly before setting the timers.

Operation

Automatic Dispensing

Once the timers are set, the feeder will automatically count down. When a timer reaches zero, the corresponding lid will open, providing access to the meal. This allows for consistent feeding schedules.

Tamper-Resistant Design

The lids are designed to be tamper-resistant, helping to prevent pets from accessing food before the scheduled meal time. While designed for security, highly motivated or clever pets may still attempt to open the lids.

Maintenance

Cleaning

The removable BPA-free food tray is dishwasher safe and can be placed on the top rack for easy cleaning. Regular cleaning is recommended to maintain hygiene.

Battery Replacement

Replace the AA alkaline battery as needed. The battery life can vary, but typically lasts for several months. A ticking sound from the timers indicates they are functioning.

Troubleshooting

  • Timer Inaccuracy: Some users have reported slight inaccuracies with the timers. It is advisable to monitor the feeder during its initial uses to ensure it opens at the desired times.
  • Pet Access: While designed to be tamper-resistant, very clever or food-driven pets might attempt to manipulate the dials or lids. Ensure the feeder is placed in a stable location where it cannot be easily moved or overturned.
  • Food Sticking: When using semi-moist food, ensure it is spread evenly and does not create obstructions around the lid's edges to allow for smooth opening.
