Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your LIONWEI 16-in-1 USB C Docking Station:

  1. Verify Laptop USB-C Port: Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode) and power delivery for full functionality.
    Not all USB-C ports are equal.

  2. Connect Power Adapter: Connect the included PD charger to the USB-C PD 100W port on the docking station, then plug the charger into a wall outlet. This provides power to the docking station and your laptop.

  3. Connect to Laptop: Use the provided USB-C host cable to connect the docking station's USB-C Host port to your laptop's compatible USB-C port.
  4. Connect External Displays: Connect your HDMI monitors to the HDMI ports on the docking station using HDMI cables.

  5. Connect Peripherals: Connect your USB devices (keyboard, mouse, external drives), Ethernet cable, and audio devices to the corresponding ports on the docking station.

Operating Instructions

Display Configuration:

After connecting your monitors, you may need to configure display settings on your operating system.

  • Windows OS:
    • Extend Mode: Allows you to display different content on each external monitor, extending your desktop workspace. Go to Display Settings (right-click desktop) to arrange and configure displays.
    • Mirror Mode: Duplicates your laptop's screen onto all connected external monitors.
    • Resolution: When using only HDMI 1, resolution can reach up to 4K@60Hz. When connecting dual or triple monitors, all HDMI ports support 4K@30Hz. Resolution settings follow your computer's desktop configuration.
  • macOS:
    • SST Mode Only: macOS laptops only support Single Stream Transport (SST) mode. This means all external monitors will display the same content, whether in mirror or extend mode. Multi-Stream Transport (MST) is not supported by macOS.

Power Delivery:

The USB-C PD port supports up to 100W power input. The safe power output to your laptop is limited to 87W, ensuring efficient charging while powering other peripherals.

Data Transfer:

Utilize the various USB ports and card slots for high-speed data transfers:

  • USB 3.1 Ports: Offers data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps, suitable for large file transfers and high-bandwidth devices.
  • USB 3.0 Ports: Provides data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps.
  • USB 2.0 Ports: Designed for low-latency devices like keyboards and mice.
  • SD/MicroSD Card Slots: Supports data transfer speeds up to 104MB/s for quick photo and video transfers.

Gigabit Ethernet:

The RJ45 port provides a stable and fast wired internet connection up to 1000 Mbps, enhancing network reliability compared to wireless connections.

Audio Output:

Troubleshooting

  • No Display on External Monitors:
    • Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.
    • Check all HDMI cable connections.
    • Verify display settings on your operating system (Windows Display Settings, macOS System Preferences > Displays).
    • Try connecting one monitor at a time to isolate the issue.
    • Restart your laptop and reconnect the docking station.
  • Laptop Not Charging:
    • Confirm the PD charger is properly connected to the docking station and a power outlet.
    • Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports Power Delivery.
    • Check if the power output (87W) is sufficient for your laptop's charging requirements.
  • USB Devices Not Recognized:
    • Ensure the docking station is properly connected to your laptop.
    • Try connecting the device to a different USB port on the docking station.
    • Connect the device directly to your laptop to confirm it functions independently.
    • For high-power devices, ensure the docking station is receiving adequate power.
  • No Internet Connection via Ethernet:
    • Check the Ethernet cable connection to both the docking station and your router/modem.
    • Verify network settings on your operating system.
    • Ensure your internet service is active.
  • Audio Issues:
    • Check the 3.5mm audio cable connection.
    • Verify audio output settings in your operating system.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your docking station:

  • Keep the device in a dry environment and away from extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.
