4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Keyless Entry and User Codes
The SmartCode 917 allows for convenient keyless entry. You can program up to 12 unique user codes for regular access, 2 one-time user codes for temporary access, and 1 programming code to manage all other codes. To unlock, simply enter a valid user code on the keypad. The bright LED lights on the keypad make it easy to enter codes even in low light conditions.

4.2 Auto Lock Feature
For added security, the Auto Lock feature can be enabled to automatically lock the door after a set period. You can customize this period to 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes after the door is unlocked. This ensures your door is always secured, even if you forget to lock it manually.
4.3 One-Touch Locking
The motorized deadbolt allows for quick and convenient one-touch locking. Simply press the lock button on the keypad to secure the door without needing to enter a code or use a key.
4.4 Vacation Mode
When you are away for an extended period, activate Vacation Mode. This temporarily disables the keypad, preventing any unauthorized access attempts via user codes. This feature provides peace of mind knowing your home is secure.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Replacement
The SmartCode 917 operates on 4x AA alkaline batteries (not included). The battery life is approximately 12 months, depending on usage. When the battery level is low, the lock will provide an audible and visual indicator. Replace batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Intrusion Alert
If three consecutive incorrect codes are entered on the keypad, the lock will sound an alarm and disable the keypad for 1 minute. This feature is designed to prevent unauthorized tampering and brute-force code attempts. Wait for the 1-minute lockout period to expire before attempting to enter a code again.
