3. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your meat grinder before use.

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Wash all parts that will come into contact with food (grinding head, screw, blade, plates, food tray, food pusher) in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry immediately.
  2. Assemble Grinding Head:
    • Insert the grinding screw into the grinding head.
    • Place the grinding blade onto the shaft of the screw, ensuring the sharp edges face outwards towards the grinding plate.
    • Select your desired grinding plate (fine, medium, or coarse) and place it over the blade and screw shaft.
    • Screw the fixing ring onto the grinding head until it is hand-tight. Do not overtighten.
  3. Attach Grinding Head to Motor Unit: Insert the assembled grinding head into the opening on the front of the motor unit. Rotate the grinding head counter-clockwise until it locks securely into place.
  4. Place Food Tray: Position the food tray onto the top of the grinding head's feed tube.
  5. Position Appliance: Place the assembled meat grinder on a stable, flat, and dry surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the motor unit.

4. Operating Instructions

Before operating, ensure the appliance is correctly assembled and plugged into a suitable power outlet.

Meat Preparation:

  • Cut meat into small pieces (approximately 2-3 cm cubes) that can easily fit into the feed tube.
  • Remove all bones, gristle, and excessive fat from the meat to prevent damage to the appliance and ensure smooth operation.
  • For best results, chill the meat and the grinding head components in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before grinding. This helps maintain meat texture and prevents smearing.

Grinding Process:

  1. Place a suitable container under the output of the grinding head to collect the ground meat.
  2. Place the prepared meat pieces into the food tray.
  3. Switch the appliance ON using the ON/OFF/Reverse switch.
  4. Gently feed the meat into the feed tube using the food pusher. Never use your fingers or other utensils to push meat.
  5. Do not force meat into the grinder. Allow the appliance to work at its own pace.
  6. If the appliance becomes jammed, switch it OFF immediately. Use the 'Reverse' function briefly to clear the blockage, then switch OFF again before attempting to clear any remaining blockage manually (after unplugging).
  7. After grinding all the meat, switch the appliance OFF and unplug it from the power outlet.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Tefal NE 1088 Meat Grinder.

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning.
  2. Disassemble: Disassemble the grinding head by reversing the assembly steps. Remove the fixing ring, grinding plate, blade, screw, and grinding head from the motor unit.
  3. Clean Parts: Wash all detachable parts (grinding head, screw, blade, grinding plates, food tray, food pusher) immediately after use in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Drying: It is crucial to dry all metal parts immediately and thoroughly to prevent rust. You may apply a small amount of cooking oil to the metal parts (especially the grinding plates and blade) after drying to further protect them.
  5. Motor Unit: Wipe the motor unit with a damp cloth. Never immerse the motor unit in water or place it under running water.
  6. Do Not Dishwash: Metal parts are generally not dishwasher safe as harsh detergents and high temperatures can cause discoloration and rust.
  7. Storage: Store the clean, dry appliance and its accessories in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
