Setup
1. Initial Winding
Your Orient RA-AA0C watch is powered by an automatic movement, which means it winds itself through the motion of your wrist. However, for initial setup or if the watch has stopped, manual winding is recommended.
- Unscrew the Crown: If your watch has a screw-down crown, gently turn it counter-clockwise until it releases.
- Wind the Watch: With the crown in its normal, pushed-in position (or unscrewed if it's a screw-down crown), turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will build up a sufficient power reserve.
- Secure the Crown: If it's a screw-down crown, push it in and turn clockwise to screw it back down securely. This ensures water resistance.
2. Setting the Time and Date
- Pull out the Crown: Gently pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop (hacking feature).
- Set the Time: Turn the crown to move the hands clockwise until the correct time is displayed. Ensure you differentiate between AM and PM when setting the date. To avoid damaging the movement, do not set the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM.
- Set the Date and Day: Pull the crown out to the first click position. Turn the crown clockwise to set the date and counter-clockwise to set the day.
- Push in the Crown: Once the time, date, and day are set, push the crown back into its normal, pushed-in position. If it's a screw-down crown, screw it back down securely.
Operating Instructions
Automatic Winding
The Orient RA-AA0C features an automatic movement. When worn regularly, the natural motion of your arm will keep the mainspring wound, eliminating the need for manual winding. For optimal performance, wear the watch for at least 8-10 hours daily.
Power Reserve
A fully wound watch has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it will stop. Simply re-wind it manually or wear it to restart the movement.
Water Resistance
This watch has a water resistance rating of 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not for diving or prolonged water immersion. Ensure the crown is always pushed in and, if applicable, screwed down tightly before any contact with water.
- Do NOT operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
- Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, steam, or sudden temperature changes, as this can compromise seals.
Maintenance
Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth regularly. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the watch is exposed to saltwater, rinse it gently with fresh water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Storage
When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box is ideal for storage.

Service

Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running:
If the watch has stopped, it likely needs to be wound. Manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise 30-40 times. If it still does not start, ensure the crown is pushed in fully. If the issue persists, seek professional service.
- Time Inaccuracy:
Automatic watches can have slight variations in accuracy. If your watch is consistently running significantly fast or slow (e.g., more than +/- 30 seconds per day), it may require regulation by a professional watchmaker. Exposure to strong magnetic fields can also affect accuracy; demagnetization may be necessary.
- Date/Day Not Changing:
Ensure the time is set correctly, differentiating between AM and PM. The date and day typically change around midnight. Avoid setting the date manually between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement.
- Condensation Under Crystal:
If you notice condensation inside the watch, this indicates a breach in water resistance. Immediately take the watch to an authorized service center to prevent further damage to the movement.
