5.3. Physical Installation Tips

  • Carefully remove the original radio from your dashboard.
  • Connect the provided adapter cables to the vehicle's harness and the new radio.
  • Ensure all cables, especially the Canbus module, are neatly tucked away to allow the new radio to slide fully into the dashboard slot without obstruction.
  • For the GPS antenna, route the cable cleanly and mount the antenna in a location with a clear view of the sky, typically on the dashboard or under the windshield.
  • If installing an external microphone, route its cable to a suitable position for clear voice pickup, such as near the rearview mirror or on the A-pillar.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Basic Controls and Interface

The unit features a responsive 7-inch touchscreen for intuitive control. Physical buttons and knobs provide quick access to essential functions.

  • Power On/Off & Volume: Press the left knob to power on/off. Rotate to adjust volume.
  • Menu: Access the main menu or return to the previous screen.
  • BT (Bluetooth): Quickly switch to Bluetooth mode.
  • SD/USB: Access media from SD card or USB drive.
  • TUN (Tuning): Rotate the right knob to tune radio frequencies.
  • DVD: Switch to CD/DVD playback mode.
  • EQ (Equalizer): Access audio equalizer settings.
  • Adjustable Illumination: The unit features 7 adjustable LED button illumination colors (blue, turquoise, yellow, green, red, purple, white) to match your vehicle's interior.

  • Pairing: Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and search for the car radio (e.g., "BT4982"). Enter the PIN (default: 0000) if prompted.
  • Hands-free Calling: Make and receive calls directly from the radio interface. Supports automatic phonebook transfer and call recording.
  • Music Streaming: Play audio from your smartphone wirelessly via Bluetooth.
  • An external microphone is included for enhanced call clarity.

6.4. Multimedia Playback

The unit supports various media sources for audio and video entertainment.

  • USB/SD Card: Insert USB drives or SD cards into the designated slots to play music or videos. The unit supports various audio and video file formats.

  • Headrest Monitor Support: Connect external headrest monitors to provide entertainment for rear passengers.

6.5. Radio Tuner

6.7. Mirrorlink for Android Smartphones

  • Connection: Connect your Android smartphone to the radio via USB.
  • Screen Mirroring: The smartphone screen will be displayed on the radio.
  • Audio: Audio from the mirrored content will be transmitted via Bluetooth.
  • Note: iPhone Mirrorlink is not supported.

6.8. Steering Wheel Control

Integrate your vehicle's steering wheel controls with the car radio for convenient operation.

  • Press the corresponding button on your steering wheel. The radio will register the command.
  • Repeat for all desired functions. You can customize button assignments or leave some unassigned.

6.9. Rear View Camera (Optional)

Connect a universal rear view camera (sold separately) for enhanced safety when reversing.

  • The display will automatically switch to the camera view when the vehicle is put into reverse.

6.10. DAB+ Radio (Optional)

Enhance your radio experience with digital audio broadcasting (DAB+) by connecting an optional DAB+ module (sold separately).

  • Software Updates: Periodically check the AWESAFE website for available software or map updates to ensure optimal performance and the latest features.
  • SD Card Care: Handle the navigation SD card with care. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or physical damage.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
