5.2 Initial Configuration
After physical installation, configure the device via a web browser.
- Connect your computer to the PoE converter's LAN port using an Ethernet cable, or connect wirelessly to the extender's default WiFi network (SSID and password usually found on a label on the device or in the Quick Installation Guide).
- Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., http://192.168.10.1) or the default domain name (e.g., http://ap.setup) into the address bar.
- Enter the default username and password (usually 'admin' for both).
- Follow the on-screen setup wizard to select your desired operating mode (AP/Router, Repeater, or WISP) and configure network settings.
6. Operating Modes
The WAVLINK AC600 supports multiple operating modes to suit various network requirements.

Image: Diagram showing the three main operating modes: AP/Router Mode, Repeater Mode, and AP+Repeater Mode.
6.1 AP/Router Mode
In this mode, the device acts as a primary router or an access point, creating a new wireless network.
- Router Mode: Connects to a modem via the WAN/LAN port and provides internet access to connected devices, acting as a DHCP server.
- Access Point (AP) Mode: Connects to an existing wired router via the WAN/LAN port and extends the wired network wirelessly. It does not perform NAT or DHCP.
6.2 Repeater Mode
The device wirelessly connects to an existing WiFi network and re-broadcasts it, extending its coverage. This mode is ideal for eliminating WiFi dead zones.
- Select the Repeater mode during setup.
- Scan for available WiFi networks and select the one you wish to extend.
- Enter the password for the selected network.
- The extender will then broadcast the extended network, often with a suffix like '_EXT'.
6.3 WISP Mode (Wireless Internet Service Provider)
In WISP mode, the device acts as a client to an existing wireless network (e.g., a public hotspot) and shares that internet connection with local wired and wireless clients, functioning as a router.
- Select WISP mode during setup.
- Scan for the wireless network you want to connect to as a client.
- Configure the local network settings for your devices.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Firmware Update
Periodically check the WAVLINK official website for firmware updates. Firmware updates can improve performance, add new features, and fix bugs.
- Download the latest firmware file for your model from the WAVLINK support page.
- Log in to the device's web management interface.
- Navigate to the 'System Tools' or 'Firmware Upgrade' section.
- Upload the downloaded firmware file and follow the on-screen instructions. Do not power off the device during the upgrade process.
7.2 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the PoE converter and a working power outlet. Check the Power LED.
- Cannot Access Web Management Page: Verify your computer's IP address is in the same subnet as the extender (e.g., 192.168.10.x). Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser. Ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected.
- Poor Signal Strength: Relocate the extender to a position with better line of sight to your main router. Adjust antenna orientation. Check for obstructions like thick walls or metal objects.
- Slow Connection Speed: Ensure the extender is placed within optimal range of the main router. Check for interference from other wireless devices. Update firmware.
- Forgot Login Password: Perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the Reset button for 8 seconds. This will revert all settings to default.
