2. Getting Started: Initial Setup
Upon first use or after a battery change, you may need to set the current time and date. Refer to the following steps:
- Entering Time Setting Mode: Press and hold the ADJUST button (usually top-left) until the city code starts flashing. This indicates you are in the Home City setting mode.
- Selecting Home City: Use the FORWARD (bottom-right) and REVERSE (top-right) buttons to select your desired Home City code.
- Adjusting Time and Date: Press the MODE button (bottom-left) to cycle through the setting options: DST (Daylight Saving Time), 12/24-hour format, Seconds, Hour, Minute, Year, Month, Day. Use the FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to adjust the flashing value.
- Exiting Setting Mode: Once all settings are correct, press the ADJUST button to exit the setting mode.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Timekeeping Mode
The watch normally displays the current time, day of the week, and date. The small world map display indicates the current time zone.
3.2 World Time Mode
This watch can display the current time in 31 time zones (48 cities) around the world.
- Entering World Time Mode: From the Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button until 'WORLD TIME' appears on the display.
- Viewing Other Time Zones: Use the FORWARD and REVERSE buttons to scroll through different city codes and view their current times.
- Swapping Home City and World Time City: In World Time Mode, press the ADJUST button to swap your Home City time with the currently displayed World Time City.

3.3 Alarm Mode
The watch features 5 daily alarms and an hourly time signal.
- Entering Alarm Mode: From the Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button until 'ALARM' appears.
- Selecting an Alarm: Use the FORWARD button to cycle through AL1 to AL5 and the SIG (Hourly Time Signal).
- Setting an Alarm: With the desired alarm selected, press and hold the ADJUST button until the hour setting flashes. Use FORWARD and REVERSE to set the hour and minute. Press MODE to switch between hour and minute settings.
- Activating/Deactivating Alarm: Press the FORWARD button in Alarm Mode (without holding ADJUST) to toggle the selected alarm ON/OFF.
- Exiting Alarm Mode: Press the ADJUST button to exit the setting mode, or MODE to return to Timekeeping Mode.

3.4 Stopwatch Mode
The stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times, and two finishes.
- Entering Stopwatch Mode: From the Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button until 'STW' (Stopwatch) appears.
- Start/Stop: Press the FORWARD button to start and stop the stopwatch.
- Reset: While the stopwatch is stopped, press the REVERSE button to reset it to zero.
- Split Time: While the stopwatch is running, press the REVERSE button to record a split time. Press REVERSE again to return to elapsed time display.
3.5 Countdown Timer Mode
The countdown timer can be set for a period of up to 24 hours.
- Entering Countdown Timer Mode: From the Timekeeping Mode, press the MODE button until 'TMR' (Timer) appears.
- Setting the Timer: Press and hold the ADJUST button until the hour setting flashes. Use FORWARD and REVERSE to set the desired countdown time. Press MODE to switch between hour and minute settings.
- Start/Stop/Reset: Press the FORWARD button to start or stop the countdown. Press the REVERSE button while the timer is stopped to reset it to its starting time.
3.6 Illumination
The watch features an LED backlight for easy viewing in low light conditions.
- Activating Illumination: Press the LIGHT button (front-bottom) to illuminate the display.
- Illumination Duration: The illumination duration can be adjusted in the Timekeeping Setting Mode.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Water Resistance
Your Casio AE-1400WH-3AVCF watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 BAR). This means it is suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. However, it is not recommended for scuba diving. Do not operate buttons while the watch is wet or submerged.

4.2 Battery Life
