2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

The Casio MJ-100D Plus calculator operates on battery power. To install or replace the battery:

  1. Ensure the calculator is turned off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the calculator.
  3. Use a small screwdriver to remove the screw securing the cover, then slide the cover off.
  4. Insert one Lithium Ion battery (CR2032 recommended) with the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  5. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

2.2 Initial Power On

After battery installation, press the AC (All Clear) button to turn on the calculator and clear any previous entries. The display should show '0'.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Arithmetic Operations

Perform standard calculations:

  • Addition (+): Enter the first number, press +, enter the second number, then press =.
  • Subtraction (-): Enter the first number, press -, enter the second number, then press =.
  • Multiplication (×): Enter the first number, press ×, enter the second number, then press =.
  • Division (÷): Enter the first number, press ÷, enter the second number, then press =.

3.2 Clear Functions

  • C (Clear Entry): Clears the last entered number or the current calculation entry without affecting previous operations or memory.
  • AC (All Clear): Clears all entries, calculations, and memory, resetting the calculator to its initial state.

3.3 300-Step Check and Recheck with Sound Assist

This feature allows you to review up to 300 steps of your calculations. Sound assist provides audible confirmation for each step.

  • CHECK BACK: Press this button to review previous calculation steps one by one.
  • CHECK FORWARD: Press this button to move forward through reviewed steps.
  • RECHECK: Initiates a full review of all recorded steps.
  • AUTO REVIEW: Automatically scrolls through the calculation steps.

3.4 Tax Calculation

The calculator supports quick tax calculations. First, set the tax rate:

  1. Press RATE SET.
  2. Enter the tax rate percentage (e.g., 8 for 8%).
  3. Press RATE SET again to save.

To perform tax calculations:

  • TAX+: Adds the set tax amount to the displayed value.
  • TAX-: Subtracts the set tax amount from the displayed value.

3.5 Memory Functions

Store and recall values using the memory keys:

  • M+: Adds the displayed value to the memory.
  • M-: Subtracts the displayed value from the memory.
  • MRC: Press once to recall the memory value. Press twice to clear the memory.

3.6 Other Functions

  • % (Percentage): Calculates percentages. E.g., 50 × 10 % = 5.
  • (Square Root): Calculates the square root of the displayed number.
  • MU (Mark-up): Used for profit margin calculations.
  • GT (Grand Total): Accumulates the results of multiple calculations. Press to display the grand total.
  • CORRECT: Corrects the last digit entered.
  • DISP: Adjusts the display settings, such as decimal places or rounding.
  • (Shift Key): Moves the cursor to the right, useful for correcting entries.
  • Localized Number Display: The calculator automatically adjusts number formatting based on regional standards.
  • 3-Digit Comma Markers: Numbers are displayed with commas separating every three digits for improved readability.
  • Key Rollover: Allows for fast input by ensuring that key presses are registered even if the previous key has not been fully released.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning
