Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph Watch CA4444-82E Instruction Manual

Model: CA4444-82E

Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the operation and maintenance of your Citizen Eco-Drive Chronograph Watch, Model CA4444-82E. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper use and to maximize the lifespan of your timepiece. The Eco-Drive technology harnesses light from any source, converting it into energy to power the watch, eliminating the need for battery replacement.

Setup and Initial Charging

Initial Charging

Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. For optimal performance, ensure the watch receives sufficient light exposure. Upon first use or after a prolonged period in darkness, the watch may stop. To restart, expose the watch face to a bright light source (e.g., sunlight or fluorescent lamp) for several hours. The second hand will begin to move at one-second intervals once sufficient charge is accumulated.

  • Sunlight: Approximately 5-6 hours for a full charge from a completely discharged state.
  • Fluorescent Lamp (30W, 20cm distance): Approximately 40-50 hours for a full charge.

Avoid placing the watch too close to incandescent lamps or halogen lights, as this can generate excessive heat and damage the movement.

Setting the Time and Date

  1. Pull out the crown to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
  2. Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. When setting the minute hand, advance it a few minutes past the desired time and then turn it back.
  3. Push the crown back to the first click position.
  4. Rotate the crown to set the date. Ensure the date changes at midnight, not noon. If setting during the evening, advance the date to the next day.
  5. Push the crown back to the normal position. The second hand will resume movement.

Operating Instructions

Chronograph Function

  2. Stopping the Chronograph: Press the upper pusher (A) again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be indicated by the chronograph second hand and minute hand.
  3. Resetting the Chronograph: After stopping, press the lower pusher (B) to reset the chronograph. All chronograph hands will return to their zero positions.
  4. Split Time Measurement: To measure split times, press the lower pusher (B) while the chronograph is running. The chronograph hands will stop to indicate the split time. Press (B) again to resume measurement.

Tachymeter Scale

The tachymeter scale on the bezel can be used to measure speed (km/h or mph) or production rates (units/hour). To measure speed, start the chronograph when passing a starting point. Stop it after traveling 1 unit of distance (e.g., 1 kilometer or 1 mile). The point on the tachymeter scale indicated by the chronograph second hand shows the average speed.

Care and Maintenance

Charging Guidelines

  • To maintain optimal charge, expose the watch to light regularly.
  • Avoid prolonged storage in dark places, as this can lead to complete discharge and require a longer initial charge.
  • The watch features an insufficient charge warning function (second hand moves at two-second intervals) and a power save function (hands stop when stored in darkness for an extended period).

Water Resistance

This watch is designed for swimming. Ensure the crown is pushed in completely before exposing the watch to water. Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.

Cleaning

Wipe the watch case and band with a soft, dry cloth. For titanium bands, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners or solvents.

Storage

When storing the watch for extended periods, place it in an area where it can receive light to prevent complete discharge. If stored in darkness, the power save function will activate.
