6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

  1. Daily Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
    • Discard the used paper filter and coffee grounds.
    • Wash the glass carafe and filter holder in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are generally dishwasher safe (top rack), but refer to the full manual for confirmation.
    • Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
    • Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  2. Descaling: Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect performance. Descale your coffee maker regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 months).
    • Prepare a descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions (e.g., white vinegar and water, or a commercial descaling agent).
    • Pour the solution into the water reservoir.
    • Place an empty paper filter in the filter holder and the empty carafe on the heating plate.
    • Start a brewing cycle. After about half the solution has brewed through, turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for 15-30 minutes to allow the solution to work.
    • Turn the coffee maker back on and let the remaining solution brew through.
    • After the cycle, discard the solution. Run at least two full cycles with fresh cold water to rinse the appliance thoroughly.
