The Sealey AUTOCHARGE650HF is a compact, intelligent battery charger and maintainer designed for 6V and 12V lead-acid (STD, AGM, GEL) and Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. It features a 9-cycle charging program to optimize battery performance and longevity.

Setup

  1. Preparation: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free from corrosion. If necessary, clean them with a wire brush.
  2. Ventilation: Place the charger in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture.
  3. Connect to Battery:
    • Connect the RED positive (+) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal.
    • Connect the BLACK negative (-) clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    • Ensure connections are secure.
  4. Connect to Power: Plug the AC power cord into a standard electrical outlet. The charger will power on and enter standby mode.

Operating Instructions

Selecting Charging Mode

The AUTOCHARGE650HF offers multiple charging modes. Press the 'MODE' button (labeled 'C' on the unit) to cycle through the available options:

Starting the Charging Process

  1. After connecting the charger to the battery and mains power, the display will show the current battery voltage.
  2. Press the 'MODE' button (C) repeatedly until the desired charging mode is selected. The selected mode will be indicated on the display.
  3. The charger will automatically begin the charging cycle. The display will show charging progress, current, and voltage.
  4. Once charging is complete, the charger will automatically switch to maintenance mode (float charge) to keep the battery optimally charged.

Ending the Charging Process

  1. Press the 'ENTER/EXIT' button (power symbol) to stop charging and put the unit into standby.
  2. Disconnect the AC power cord from the mains outlet.
  3. Disconnect the BLACK negative (-) clamp from the battery terminal.
  4. Disconnect the RED positive (+) clamp from the battery terminal.

Troubleshooting

Charger does not power on.
  • Check if the AC power cord is securely plugged into the outlet and the charger.

Charger not charging battery.
  • Ensure battery clamps are correctly connected (positive to positive, negative to negative).
  • Check for loose or corroded battery terminal connections.
  • Verify the correct charging mode is selected for the battery type and voltage.
  • Battery may be severely discharged or faulty.
Display shows an error code.
  • Refer to the charger's display for specific error codes (e.g., reverse polarity, short circuit, over-voltage). Disconnect and re-connect the battery correctly.
  • If the error persists, the battery or charger may be faulty.
Charger gets warm during operation.
  • This is normal during charging. Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger.
  • If it becomes excessively hot, disconnect immediately and check for obstructions or faulty connections.
