Product Overview
The Zoom G1X Four is a multi-effects processor designed for electric guitarists, featuring over 70 effects, 13 amp models, a looper, drum machine, and an integrated expression pedal.

- Display: Shows patch names, effect parameters, and menu options.
- Control Knobs (1-4): Adjust parameters displayed on the screen.
- Footswitches (1-5): Used for selecting patches, turning effects on/off, and controlling the looper/drum machine.
- Expression Pedal: Provides real-time control over various effect parameters like volume, wah, pitch, etc.
- Rhythm Button: Activates and controls the drum machine.
- Looper Button: Activates and controls the looper function.

- INPUT Jack: Connect your guitar here.
- AUX IN Jack: Connect an external audio player (e.g., smartphone) to play along with music.
- DC 9V Input: Connect an optional Zoom AD-16 AC adapter.
- Micro USB Port: Connect to a computer for firmware updates and using Zoom Guitar Lab software.
- OUTPUT Jack: Connect to your amplifier, headphones, or audio interface.
Setup
Powering the Unit
The G1X Four can be powered by four AA batteries or an optional Zoom AD-16 AC adapter.
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit and insert four AA batteries, observing correct polarity.
- AC Adapter: Connect the Zoom AD-16 AC adapter (sold separately) to the DC 9V input jack.
- USB Bus Power: The unit can also be powered via the Micro USB port when connected to a computer or a USB power adapter.
Connecting Your Equipment
- Connect your electric guitar to the INPUT jack of the G1X Four.
- Connect the OUTPUT jack of the G1X Four to your guitar amplifier, headphones, or audio interface.
- If using an external audio player, connect it to the AUX IN jack.
Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the unit.
Operating Instructions
Turning On/Off
- To turn on, press and hold the ON/OFF footswitch.
- To turn off, press and hold the ON/OFF footswitch again until the display turns off.
Patch Selection
The G1X Four stores various effect combinations as "patches."
- Use the SELECT footswitches (left/right arrows) to scroll through patches.
- The display will show the patch number and name.

Editing Effects
You can customize individual effects within a patch.
- Press the MEMORY/STOMP/EDIT button to enter edit mode.
- Use the SELECT footswitches to navigate between effects in the chain.
- Use the four control knobs (1-4) to adjust the parameters shown on the display for the selected effect.
- Press the MEMORY/STOMP/EDIT button again to exit edit mode.
Using the Expression Pedal
The integrated expression pedal allows for dynamic real-time control.

- The expression pedal can be assigned to control various parameters such as volume, wah, pitch bend, modulation speed, and more.
- Refer to the on-screen menu for assigning pedal functions within specific effects.
Looper Function
The looper allows you to record and overdub guitar phrases.

- Press the LOOPER button to activate the looper.
- Use the REC/PLAY footswitch to record, play, and overdub.
- Press the STOP footswitch to stop playback.
Drum Machine
Practice with 68 built-in rhythm patterns.

- Press the RHYTHM button to activate the drum machine.
- Use the control knobs to select patterns and adjust tempo/volume.
Saving Custom Patches
After editing, you can save your custom settings to a user patch location.
- While in edit mode, press the SETTING button.
- Navigate to the "Save" option and confirm your desired patch location.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace all four AA batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Zoom website for firmware updates. Connect the unit to a computer via USB and use the Zoom Guitar Lab software to perform updates.
