Introduction
Thank you for choosing a Citizen Eco-Drive watch. This manual provides essential information for the proper use, care, and maintenance of your CA4420-13L model. Your watch is equipped with Citizen's innovative Eco-Drive technology, which converts any light source into electrical energy, eliminating the need for battery replacement.
The Eco-Drive system ensures continuous operation by storing energy in a rechargeable power cell. A full charge can power the watch for up to six months in complete darkness. This design reflects Citizen's commitment to environmental sustainability and convenience.

Initial Setup and Charging
Upon receiving your watch, it may be in a low power state. It is crucial to expose the watch to light for initial charging.
Charging Guidelines:
- Sunlight: The most efficient charging method. Place the watch near a window, ensuring it is not exposed to extreme heat.
- Fluorescent Light: Can also charge the watch, but it will take significantly longer than sunlight.
- Avoid Incandescent Lights: These generate heat and are not efficient for charging.
- Charging Time: For a full charge from a completely depleted state, expose the watch to direct sunlight for approximately 11 hours, or to bright fluorescent light for about 40 hours.
Once fully charged, the watch will operate continuously as long as it receives regular exposure to light. If the watch stops, it indicates a low power reserve and requires charging.

Operating Instructions
Your Citizen CA4420-13L is a chronograph watch with multiple functions. Refer to the image below for button and crown identification.
Image: Side profile of the watch, highlighting the main crown (center) and the two chronograph pushers (top and bottom).
Setting the Time and Date:
- Pull the crown out to position 2: The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown: Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set (the 24-hour sub-dial will indicate this).
- Push the crown back to position 0: The second hand will resume movement, and the time setting is complete.
- Setting the Date: Pull the crown out to position 1. Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Push the crown back to position 0 when done. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
Using the Chronograph:
The chronograph function allows you to measure elapsed time.
- Start/Stop: Press the upper pusher (A) to start the chronograph. Press it again to stop.
- Reset: While the chronograph is stopped, press the lower pusher (B) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.
- Split Time: Some chronographs allow for split time measurement. Consult the full digital manual (via QR code) for advanced chronograph features specific to Caliber B620.
Maintenance and Care
Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Citizen Eco-Drive watch.
Charging and Power Reserve:
- Regular Exposure to Light: To maintain a full charge, ensure your watch is regularly exposed to light, even when not worn.
- Avoid Overcharging: The Eco-Drive system has an overcharge prevention function, so you cannot overcharge the watch.
- Low Power Warning: If the second hand starts moving in two-second intervals, it indicates a low power reserve. Charge the watch immediately.
Cleaning:
- Watch Case and Crystal: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry one.
- Leather Strap: Avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals. Clean with a dry, soft cloth. If it gets wet, allow it to air dry naturally.
Water Resistance:
Your watch has a water resistance rating of 10 BAR (100 meters). This makes it suitable for everyday use, showering, and swimming. However, it is not suitable for diving. Always ensure the crown is pushed in completely before exposing the watch to water.
