5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
- Unscrew the bottom cap of the handle.
- Insert two AAA batteries (not included) into the handle, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Screw the bottom cap back on securely.
5.2. Attaching Disposable Tips
- Select a new, clean disposable ear tip of the appropriate size.
- Gently push the tip onto the distal end of the otoscope head until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove, simply pull the tip straight off. Dispose of used tips immediately.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Turning On/Off
The Heine Mini-3000 LED F.O. Otoscope features a convenient on/off switch located on the handle. Slide the switch upwards to turn the light on and downwards to turn it off.
6.2. Performing an Examination
- Ensure the otoscope has fresh batteries and a new, clean disposable tip attached.
- Turn on the otoscope light.
- Gently insert the speculum into the patient's ear canal, taking care not to cause discomfort.
- Look through the viewing window to observe the ear canal and tympanic membrane. Adjust the angle as needed for optimal visualization.
- After examination, remove the otoscope from the ear, turn off the light, and dispose of the used speculum.
