4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Polycom VVX 311 phone:

  1. Attach the Desk Stand: Align the stand with the slots on the back of the phone and snap it into place. You can adjust the angle for optimal viewing.
  2. Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the phone console (usually marked with a handset icon).
  3. Connect to Network:
    • If using Power over Ethernet (PoE): Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the phone and the other end to a PoE-enabled network switch or router.
    • If not using PoE: Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the phone and the other end to your network switch or router. Then, connect the power adapter to the phone's power port and plug it into an electrical outlet.
  4. Initial Boot-Up: The phone will power on automatically and begin its boot sequence. This may take a few minutes as it connects to the network and registers with your VoIP system. The LCD display will show progress and eventually indicate readiness for use.

5.1 Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Pick up the handset, press the Speakerphone button, or press a Line key. Dial the number and press the Dial soft key or wait for automatic dialing.

  • To End a Call: Hang up the handset, press the Speakerphone button again, or press the End Call soft key.

  1. Press the Conference soft key. The active call is placed on hold.
  2. Dial the number of the third party and press the Dial soft key.
  3. Once the third party answers, press the Conference soft key again to join all parties.

5.5 Voicemail

Press the Messages button (envelope icon) to access your voicemail. Follow the audio prompts to listen to, save, or delete messages.

5.6 Caller ID and Multi-Line Operation

The phone's LCD display shows Caller ID information for incoming calls. The VVX 311 supports multi-line operation, allowing you to manage multiple calls simultaneously using the dedicated Line keys.
