3.2 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Motherboard: Carefully remove the motherboard from its anti-static bag and place it on a non-conductive, flat surface.
  2. Install the CPU:
    • Open the CPU socket lever.
    • Align the triangular mark on the CPU with the mark on the socket.
    • Gently place the CPU into the socket without forcing it.
    • Close the lever to secure the CPU.
  3. Install the CPU Cooler: Apply thermal paste (if not pre-applied) and install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions. Connect the CPU fan cable to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
  4. Install Memory (RAM):
    • Open the clips at both ends of the DIMM slots.
    • Align the notch on the memory module with the key in the DIMM slot.
    • Press down firmly on both ends of the memory module until the clips snap into place.
  5. Install M.2 SSD (Optional): If using an M.2 SSD, insert it into the M.2 connector at an angle and secure it with the provided screw.
  6. Mount Motherboard in Case: Install the I/O shield into the case. Align the motherboard with the standoffs in your PC case and secure it with screws.
  7. Connect Power Supply: Connect the 24-pin ATX main power connector and the 8-pin ATX 12V power connector from your power supply to the motherboard.
  8. Connect Storage Devices: Connect SATA data cables from your storage drives (HDDs/SSDs) to the SATA 6Gb/s connectors on the motherboard. Connect SATA power cables from your power supply to the drives.
  9. Connect Front Panel Cables: Connect the power switch, reset switch, HDD LED, power LED, and front panel audio/USB headers from your case to the corresponding pins on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard layout for exact pin locations.
  10. Install Expansion Cards (e.g., Graphics Card): Insert your graphics card into the PCI Express x16 slot and secure it. Connect any necessary PCIe power cables from your power supply to the graphics card.
  11. Connect Rear Panel Devices: Connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals to the rear I/O panel ports.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter during setup or operation.

6.1 No Power / No Boot

  • Check Power Connections: Ensure the 24-pin ATX main power and 8-pin ATX 12V power connectors are securely seated on the motherboard. Verify the power supply is switched on.
  • Front Panel Connections: Double-check that the power switch cable from the case is correctly connected to the motherboard's front panel header.
  • Component Seating: Reseat the CPU, RAM modules, and any expansion cards (especially the graphics card) to ensure they are properly installed.

6.2 No Display Output

  • Monitor Connection: Ensure your monitor is correctly connected to the graphics card or the motherboard's integrated graphics port (if using an APU) and is powered on.
  • Graphics Card: If using a dedicated graphics card, ensure it is fully seated in the PCIe slot and any required PCIe power cables are connected.
  • RAM: Incorrectly installed or faulty RAM can prevent display output. Try booting with one RAM stick at a time.

6.3 Component Not Detected

  • SATA/M.2 Drives: Verify that data and power cables for SATA drives are securely connected. For M.2 SSDs, ensure they are properly seated and screwed down. Check BIOS settings to confirm the drive is detected.
  • USB Devices: Ensure USB devices are connected to functional ports. Try different ports or devices to isolate the issue.

6.4 System Instability / Crashes

  • Overheating: Monitor CPU and GPU temperatures. Ensure coolers are properly installed and fans are functioning. Clean dust from heatsinks.
  • Drivers: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause instability. Update all system drivers to the latest versions.
  • BIOS Settings: Reset BIOS to default settings if you have made changes that might be causing instability.
