Setup

Connecting the Keyboard

1. Locate an available USB port on your computer.
2. Plug the USB connector of the Redragon K580 keyboard into the USB port.
3. The operating system will automatically detect and install the necessary drivers. This process may take a few moments.
4. Once installation is complete, the keyboard's RGB lighting will illuminate, indicating it is ready for use.

No additional software is required for basic functionality, but Redragon provides optional software for advanced customization of lighting and macros.

Operating Instructions

Dedicated Macro Keys (G1-G5)

The Redragon K580 features five dedicated macro keys (G1-G5) located on the top left of the keyboard. These keys allow for on-the-fly macro recording without the need for software.

On-the-Fly Macro Recording:

1. Press the REC button (located near G5). The indicator light will start blinking.
2. Press the desired G-key (G1-G5) you wish to assign the macro to. The indicator light will blink faster.
3. Type the sequence of keys you want to record.
4. Press the REC button again to save the macro. The indicator light will stop blinking.

To use a recorded macro, simply press the assigned G-key.

Dedicated Media Controls and Volume Scroll Bar

The keyboard features dedicated media control buttons (Play/Pause, Previous, Next) and a multi-function scroll bar for convenient audio and lighting adjustments.

• Volume Control: Rotate the scroll bar to adjust system volume.
• Backlight Brightness Control: Press the scroll bar to switch its function to backlight brightness adjustment, then rotate to change brightness. Press again to revert to volume control.

RGB Backlighting and Side Lighting

The K580 VATA features per-key RGB backlighting and five modes of RGB side edge lighting, offering extensive customization options.

Adjusting Backlight Modes:

The keyboard supports various preset lighting effects. Use the FN key combined with specific function keys (e.g., FN + INS, FN + HOME, FN + PGUP, FN + DEL, FN + END, FN + PGDN) to cycle through different lighting modes and effects.

Customizing Lighting:

For advanced lighting customization, including per-key lighting and custom profiles, download the official Redragon software from the Redragon website. The software allows you to save your preferred settings directly to the keyboard's onboard memory.

Hot-Swappable Mechanical Switches

The Redragon K580 features hot-swappable sockets, allowing you to easily change mechanical switches without soldering. This provides flexibility for customizing typing feel and replacing faulty switches.

Replacing Switches:

1. Using the provided keycap puller, gently remove the keycap from the switch you wish to replace.
2. Insert the switch puller tool onto the two clips on the top and bottom of the switch.
3. Squeeze the clips and gently pull the switch straight up to remove it from the PCB.
4. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
5. Gently push the new switch into the socket until it clicks into place.
6. Replace the keycap.

The K580 supports 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches, offering broad compatibility.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Keyboard

• Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
• Use a can of compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps.
• For surface cleaning, wipe the keyboard with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid excessive moisture.
• For deeper cleaning, keycaps can be removed using the provided keycap puller and cleaned with mild soap and water. Ensure keycaps are completely dry before reattaching.

General Care

• Avoid spilling liquids on the keyboard. While the K580 has some water resistance, it is not fully waterproof.
• Do not expose the keyboard to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
• Handle the USB cable carefully to prevent damage.
