Introduction

The FiiO BTR3 is a portable HiFi Bluetooth receiver and USB DAC designed to enhance your audio experience. It supports a wide range of high-quality wireless audio codecs, including AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD, LDAC, and LHDC (HWA). Featuring a premium Qualcomm CSR8645 Bluetooth chip and an independent AK4376A DAC, the BTR3 delivers superior sound. Its compact design includes a Type-C connector for charging and USB DAC functionality, NFC for easy pairing, and a Bluetooth indicator light for codec identification.

Setup

1. Charging the Device

Connect the FiiO BTR3 to a USB power source using the provided USB Type-C cable. The indicator light will show charging status.

2. Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press and hold the Power button for approximately 3 seconds until the indicator light illuminates.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the Power button for approximately 5 seconds until the indicator light turns off.

3. Bluetooth Pairing

The FiiO BTR3 can be paired with your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

  • First-time Pairing: When powered on for the first time, the BTR3 automatically enters pairing mode. The Bluetooth indicator light will flash blue and red alternately.
  • Force Pairing: If the device is already on, press and hold the Power button for approximately 5 seconds to enter pairing mode. The indicator light will flash blue and red alternately.
  • NFC Pairing: For NFC-enabled devices, simply tap your device against the NFC area on the BTR3 to initiate pairing.

Once in pairing mode, open the Bluetooth settings on your smartphone or device, select "FiiO BTR3" from the list of available devices, and confirm the connection.

4. Bluetooth Indicator Light

The indicator light on the BTR3 changes color to indicate the currently active Bluetooth audio codec:

  • Blue: SBC
  • Cyan: AAC
  • Yellow: aptX HD
  • Green: LHDC (HWA)
  • Magenta: aptX / aptX Low Latency
  • White: LDAC / USB DAC mode

5. USB DAC Functionality

The BTR3 can function as a USB Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) for your computer.

  • Auto Mode: Power on the BTR3 and connect it to your computer via the USB Type-C cable. Select "FiiO BTR3" as the audio output device in your computer's sound settings. The indicator light will turn white.
  • Manual Mode: Power on the BTR3 and connect it to your computer. Quickly press the Power button three times. The indicator light will turn white, indicating USB DAC mode is active.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Controls

  • Power Button (Short Press): Play/Pause music.
  • Power Button (Double Press): Activates voice assistant (e.g., Siri on iOS).
  • Volume Up (+) Button (Short Press): Increase volume.
  • Volume Down (-) Button (Short Press): Decrease volume.
  • Volume Up (+) Button (Long Press): Next track.
  • Volume Down (-) Button (Long Press): Previous track.

2. Call Functions

  • Answer Call: Short press the Power button.
  • End Call: Short press the Power button during a call.
  • Reject Call: Long press the Power button when a call comes in.

3. FiiO Music App Integration

The FiiO BTR3 can be remotely controlled via the FiiO Music app. Ensure both the BTR3 firmware and the FiiO Music app are updated to their latest versions for full functionality.

  1. Update BTR3 firmware to version 1.0 (v1030) or later.
  2. Update FiiO Music app to version 1.0.4 or later.
  3. In the FiiO Music app settings, ensure "HWA" is set to OFF. (The BTR3 option may not appear if HWA is ON).
  4. After connecting the BTR3 via Bluetooth, the "FiiO BTR3" option will appear in the FiiO Music app settings, allowing access to device-specific controls and settings.

Maintenance

  • Keep the device clean and dry. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device, as this will void the warranty.
  • Use only approved charging cables and adapters.

Troubleshooting

  • Device Frozen: If the BTR3 becomes unresponsive, press and hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds to perform a reset.
  • Automatic Power Off: The BTR3 supports idle time power off. If connected via Bluetooth but no music is playing, it will enter standby. If not paired, it will power off automatically after 2 minutes to save power.
  • Cannot Pair with Smartphone:
    1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
    2. Put the BTR3 into pairing mode (indicator light flashing blue and red alternately).
    3. Check if "FiiO BTR3" appears in your phone's Bluetooth device list and select it.
  • FiiO Music App Not Displaying BTR3:
    1. Verify both BTR3 firmware and FiiO Music app are updated to the latest versions.
    2. In the FiiO Music app settings, ensure the "HWA" option is set to OFF.
    3. Confirm the BTR3 is successfully connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth.
