1. Introduction
This instruction manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your WilTec Drainage Channel. This product is designed for efficient surface water drainage in areas such as garage entrances, parking lots, building entrances, courtyards, and passages. Its robust construction ensures durability and effective water management.
The drainage channel is constructed from high-quality plastic (PP) and features a cast iron grate, providing significant load-bearing capacity. It is designed for complete embedding in the ground, with only the non-slip grate visible at the surface.
2. Safety Instructions
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety glasses during installation.
- Ensure the installation area is clear of obstructions and hazards.
- Handle channel sections and grates with care to avoid injury.
- Verify that the ground is stable and properly prepared before embedding the channel.
- Do not exceed the specified load capacity of 12.5 tons.
- Keep children and pets away from the installation site.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present and undamaged before beginning installation.
- 3 x 1-meter Drainage Channel Sections
- 3 x Cast Iron Grates (for 1-meter sections)

4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the effective and long-lasting performance of the drainage channel.
4.1 Site Preparation
- Excavation: Dig a trench of appropriate depth and width to fully embed the channel sections. Ensure the trench bottom is level and compacted.
- Slope: Create a slight slope (typically 1-2%) along the trench towards the intended drainage outlet to facilitate water flow.
- Bedding: Lay a compacted layer of gravel or concrete as a stable bedding for the channel.
4.2 Assembling Channel Sections
- Connect the 1-meter channel sections together. Ensure a secure fit to prevent leaks.
- At the end of the channel run, attach an end cap.
- For connection to a wastewater system, use the provided connectors to attach a standard KG / DN110 pipe to the designated outlet on the channel.

4.3 Embedding and Finishing
- Place the assembled channel sections into the prepared trench. Ensure the top edge of the channel is flush with the surrounding surface or slightly below, depending on the desired finish.
- Backfill the trench with concrete or suitable bedding material, ensuring the channel is fully supported on all sides.
- Once the bedding material has set, place the cast iron grates onto the channel sections. The grates are designed to sit securely within the channel.

5. Operation
The WilTec Drainage Channel operates passively by collecting surface water through its grate and directing it to the connected wastewater system. No active user intervention is required for its primary function after proper installation.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drainage channel.
- Cleaning: Periodically remove debris, leaves, and sediment from the grates and inside the channel to prevent blockages. The grates can be lifted for easier access.
- Rust Prevention: The cast iron grates should be pre-treated and regularly maintained to prevent rust formation. This may involve applying a rust-inhibiting coating or paint as needed, especially in corrosive environments.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the channel and grates for any signs of damage, cracks, or shifting. Address any issues promptly to maintain structural integrity and drainage efficiency.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your drainage channel, consider the following common problems and solutions:
- Slow Drainage/Pooling Water:
- Check for blockages in the grates or within the channel. Clear any accumulated debris.
- Inspect the connection to the wastewater system for obstructions.
- Verify that the channel maintains the correct slope for water flow.
- Grates Shifting/Loose:
- Ensure the channel is properly embedded and supported by the surrounding material.
- Check if the grates are correctly seated in their designated slots.
- Rust on Grates:
- Clean any existing rust and apply a suitable rust-inhibiting treatment or paint.
- Establish a regular maintenance schedule for rust prevention.
