4. Setup and Installation

The CHORTAU Mirror Dash Cam is designed for easy installation, attaching directly over your existing rearview mirror.

4.1 Installing the Main Unit

1. Place the mirror dash cam over your vehicle's existing rearview mirror.
2. Secure the dash cam firmly using the provided rubber straps. Ensure it is stable and does not obstruct your view.
3. Connect the car charger cable to the dash cam's power input and plug the other end into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. Route the cable neatly to avoid interference with driving.

4.2 Installing the Rear Camera

1. Mount the waterproof rear camera at the rear of your vehicle, typically above the license plate or inside the rear window. Ensure it has a clear view.
2. Connect the rear camera cable to the rear camera and route it to the main dash cam unit.
3. (Optional) For the reverse monitoring function, connect the red wire from the rear camera cable to your vehicle's reverse light power wire. This will activate the parking guidelines when reverse gear is engaged.

5. Operation

5.1 Power On/Off

The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when your vehicle's ignition is turned on (if connected to a switched power source). It will power off automatically when the ignition is turned off.

5.2 Using the Touchscreen

The 4.8-inch touchscreen allows for easy navigation through menus and settings. Tap icons to select functions such as CAR DVR (recording), PHOTOGRAPH, PLAYBACK, and SETTINGS.

5.3 Recording Modes

• Loop Recording: Videos are recorded in continuous loops (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes). When the memory card is full, the oldest unlocked files are overwritten.
• Emergency Recording (G-Sensor): In the event of a sudden impact or collision, the built-in G-sensor will automatically detect the event and lock the current video file, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording.
• Parking Monitoring: When enabled, the dash cam can detect motion or impact while the vehicle is parked and automatically record a short video. This feature requires a continuous power supply (e.g., hardwire kit, not included).

5.4 Reverse Monitoring

When the rear camera is properly installed and connected to the reverse light, the display will automatically show the rear camera view with parking guidelines when the vehicle is shifted into reverse gear. This assists in safe parking maneuvers.

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the dash cam's screen and lens. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Memory Card: Regularly format the memory card (at least once a month) within the dash cam's settings to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Use a high-speed (Class 10 or higher) microSD card.
