Setup and Connection
Before connecting, ensure both vehicles are turned off and in Park/Neutral with the parking brake engaged. Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on both batteries. The Energizer jumper cables feature color-coded clamps for easy identification: red for positive and black for negative.

Connection Steps:
- Connect one red (positive) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery.
- Connect the other red (positive) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the good battery.
- Connect one black (negative) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the good battery.
- Connect the other black (negative) clamp to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the engine block or chassis of the vehicle with the dead battery, away from the battery and moving parts. This provides a ground connection.

Operating Instructions (Jump Starting)
- Once all connections are secure, start the engine of the vehicle with the good battery. Let it run for 1-2 minutes to charge the dead battery.
- Attempt to start the vehicle with the dead battery. If it doesn't start immediately, wait a few more minutes and try again.
- Once the dead vehicle starts, disconnect the cables in the reverse order of connection:
- Disconnect the black (negative) clamp from the engine block/chassis of the now-started vehicle.
- Disconnect the black (negative) clamp from the negative (-) terminal of the good battery.
- Disconnect the red (positive) clamp from the positive (+) terminal of the good battery.
- Disconnect the red (positive) clamp from the positive (+) terminal of the now-started vehicle.
- Allow the newly started vehicle to run for at least 20-30 minutes to recharge its battery.

Maintenance and Storage
After each use, inspect the cables for any signs of damage, fraying, or corrosion. Clean the clamps if necessary. Store the cables neatly coiled in their high-grade carrying case to prevent tangling and protect them from damage. Store in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
Vehicle Does Not Start:
- Check Connections: Ensure all clamps are securely attached to the correct battery terminals and the ground point.
- Battery Condition: The dead battery might be severely discharged or faulty. Allow more charging time or consider professional assistance.
- Good Battery Strength: Ensure the good battery has sufficient charge and cranking power.
- Engine Issues: If the battery is not the issue, there might be other mechanical or electrical problems with the vehicle.
Cables Overheat:
- This indicates excessive current draw or poor connection. Disconnect immediately. Ensure clamps are clean and have a solid connection.
- The 6-gauge copper clad aluminum wires are designed to minimize overheating, but proper connection is crucial.
