Read all safety warnings and instructions before using this product.

  • Always wear appropriate safety gear, including eye protection, when using this tool.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and avoid contact with underground utilities or hidden obstacles.
  • Keep hands and body parts away from moving parts, especially during assembly, conversion, and use of the saw.
  • Ensure all locking mechanisms are securely engaged before applying force to the shovel or saw.
  • Store the tool in a safe, dry place, out of reach of children, when not in use.

Setup and Assembly

Assembling the Shovel

  1. Connect Handle to Blade: Align the handle shaft with the receiver on the shovel blade. Push firmly until the spring-loaded pin engages, securing the two parts.
  2. Extend the Handle: Locate the locking button on the handle shaft. Press the button and pull the inner shaft to extend the handle to your desired length. Release the button to lock it in place. Ensure the handle is fully extended and locked before use.

Converting to Hoe Mode

The D-2 Dozer can be quickly converted from a traditional shovel to a hoe for more efficient snow moving, especially in confined spaces or for pulling snow towards you.

  1. Release Blade Lock: Locate the quick-release mechanism or pin near the blade connection point. Depress or pull the mechanism to unlock the blade.
  2. Rotate Blade: Rotate the shovel blade 90 degrees relative to the handle.
  3. Secure Blade: Re-engage the quick-release mechanism or pin to lock the blade securely in the hoe position. Verify that the blade is firmly locked before use.

Using the Folding Saw

The folding saw is stored within the shovel handle for compact transport.

  1. Access Saw: Unscrew or unclip the end cap of the shovel handle to reveal the folding saw. Carefully slide the saw out.
  2. Unfold Saw: Grasp the saw handle and carefully unfold the blade until it locks into the open position. Ensure the blade is fully locked before use.
  3. Store Saw: After use, fold the blade back into the handle and secure it. Insert the saw back into the shovel handle and replace the end cap.

Operating Instructions

Shoveling Snow

  • Standard Shovel Mode: Use for traditional digging and lifting snow. Position the blade flat against the snow surface and push forward to gather snow. Lift and throw the snow away from your work area.
  • Hoe Mode: Ideal for pulling large volumes of snow quickly, especially when digging out snowmobiles or creating snow pits. Position the blade perpendicular to the ground and pull snow towards you. This method can be less strenuous for moving large quantities of snow.

Using the Folding Saw

  • The folding saw is designed for cutting small branches, roots, or other debris that may obstruct your path or work area.
  • Use a steady, back-and-forth motion, allowing the saw teeth to do the work. Do not force the saw.
  • Always maintain a firm grip on the handle and keep your free hand clear of the blade's path.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the shovel blade and handle to remove snow, ice, dirt, and debris. A damp cloth can be used, followed by thorough drying.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect all components for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Check the handle extension mechanism, blade locking pin, and saw blade for proper function.
  • Lubrication: If the handle extension or blade rotation mechanism becomes stiff, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants as they can attract dirt.
  • Storage: Store the shovel and saw in a clean, dry environment. Ensure the saw blade is folded and secured within the handle.

Troubleshooting

  • Handle not extending/retracting smoothly: Check for dirt or ice buildup in the shaft. Clean and apply a silicone lubricant if necessary. Ensure the locking button is fully depressed.
  • Blade not locking securely: Verify that the quick-release mechanism is fully engaged. Inspect the pin and receiver for any obstructions or damage.
  • Folding saw blade is dull: The saw blade may require sharpening or replacement after extensive use. Consult a professional for sharpening or contact the manufacturer for replacement parts.
  • Components feel loose: Re-check all connection points and locking mechanisms. If looseness persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
