Fueling the Lighter
To ensure proper operation, the lighter must be filled with appropriate lighter fluid.
- Open the lighter lid.
- Pull the inner unit (insert) completely out of the outer case.
- Turn the inner unit upside down and lift the felt pad at the bottom.
- Slowly saturate the cotton packing with Ronson or high-quality lighter fluid. Stop filling when the fluid reaches the top of the packing or begins to change color.
- Replace the felt pad and carefully insert the inner unit back into the outer case.
- Wipe any excess fluid from the lighter and your hands before use.
Important: Use only Ronson or high-quality lighter fluid. Do not overfill. Ensure the lighter is dry before attempting to ignite.
Operating the Lighter
Follow these steps to ignite your Ronson Banjo Oil Lighter:
- Open the lighter lid.
- Firmly strike the flint wheel downwards with your thumb to create a spark.
- Once ignited, hold the lighter steady.
- To extinguish the flame, simply close the lid. This will cut off the oxygen supply and put out the flame.
Caution: Keep fingers clear of the flame. Do not keep the flame lit for extended periods.
Maintenance
Replacing the Flint
When the lighter fails to produce a spark, the flint may need replacement.
- Open the lighter lid and remove the inner unit.
- Unscrew the flint spring at the bottom of the inner unit.
- Remove the old flint and spring.
- Insert a new Ronson or high-quality flint into the flint tube.
- Reinsert the flint spring and screw it back in tightly.
Replacing the Wick
If the wick becomes too short or charred, it may need to be replaced or adjusted.
- Open the lighter lid and remove the inner unit.
- Using tweezers, gently pull the wick up until a clean section is exposed. Trim the charred portion.
- If the wick is too short, remove the felt pad and cotton packing. Pull the wick through the chimney from the inside. Replace cotton packing and felt pad.
