1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Shark IONFlex DuoClean Ultra-Light Cordless Vacuum, model IF251. Please read these instructions thoroughly before initial use and retain for future reference.

2. What's in the Box

3. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your vacuum:

1. Insert the MultiFLEX Wand into the DuoClean Floor Nozzle until it clicks securely into place.
2. Insert the Main Vacuum Unit (handheld) onto the top of the MultiFLEX Wand until it clicks securely into place.
3. Ensure both rechargeable batteries are fully charged before first use. Place a battery into the charging cradle or directly into the main unit for charging.
4. Attach desired accessories to the handheld unit or the end of the MultiFLEX Wand as needed for specific cleaning tasks.

4. Operating Instructions

Powering On/Off and Mode Selection

The vacuum features a push-button control for power and mode selection. There are 3 power levels available:

• OFF (O): Turns the vacuum off.
• Hard Floor (I): Optimized for hard surfaces.
• Carpet (II): Optimized for carpeted surfaces.
• MAX Power: Provides maximum suction for tough messes.

DuoClean Technology

The DuoClean floor nozzle combines a bristle brush and a soft roller to effectively clean fine dust, small particles, and large debris from both carpets and hard floors without needing to switch nozzles.

MultiFLEX Technology

The MultiFLEX wand allows for flexible reach under furniture and compact, free-standing storage. To use the flexible reach, gently fold the handheld vacuum forward towards the floor nozzle. For compact storage, hold down the "Press to Unlock" button and fold the handheld vacuum forward.

5. Battery Information

Your vacuum is powered by a 2X ION Power Pack System, including two Lithium-Ion batteries.

• Charging Time: Approximately 3.5 hours for a full charge.
• Battery Life: Up to 11 hours (this likely refers to total runtime with both batteries on lowest setting). Actual runtime varies based on power mode and accessory use.
• Charging: Batteries can be charged while installed in the vacuum or separately in the charging cradle.

6. Maintenance

Dust Cup Emptying

Empty the dust cup regularly to maintain optimal suction. The dust cup has a capacity of 0.3 quarts. To empty, detach the handheld unit, position it over a trash receptacle, and press the release button to open the bottom flap.

Filter Cleaning

For optimal performance, clean filters on a regular basis. The vacuum uses washable foam and felt filters.

• Pre-Motor Foam & Felt Filters: Under normal usage, rinse and let air dry completely (for at least 24 hours) once a month. Between washings, filters can be tapped clean to remove excess dust and particles into the trash.
• Post-Motor Exhaust Filter: Under normal usage, rinse and air dry once every 9 months or as needed.

Brushroll Maintenance

Regularly check the brushrolls for any hair, string, or debris that may be wrapped around them. Carefully remove any obstructions to ensure proper operation.

7. Troubleshooting

If your vacuum is not performing as expected, consult the following common issues:

• No Power: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted. Check if the power button is pressed.
• Reduced Suction: Empty the dust cup. Clean all filters as per maintenance instructions. Check for blockages in the nozzle, wand, or hose.
• Brushrolls Not Spinning: Ensure the vacuum is in the correct mode for the surface (Hard Floor or Carpet). Check for obstructions in the brushroll area and remove any tangled hair or debris.
• Overheating: If the vacuum shuts off unexpectedly, it may be due to overheating. Turn off the vacuum, clear any blockages, clean filters, and allow it to cool down for at least 45 minutes before restarting.
