3. Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your Shark Rocket Ion vacuum:
- Insert the wand into the floor nozzle until it clicks securely into place.
- Insert the handheld vacuum into the top of the wand until it clicks securely into place.
- Ensure all connections are firm before use.

4. Charging the Battery
The Shark Rocket Ion vacuum is powered by a removable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use.
- To charge the battery while attached to the vacuum: Plug the charger into a wall outlet, then connect the charger cord to the charging port on the handheld vacuum unit.
- To charge the battery separately: Press the battery release button and slide the battery out of the handheld vacuum. Plug the charger into a wall outlet, then connect the charger cord to the charging port on the battery.
The battery indicator lights will illuminate to show the charging status. A full charge typically takes approximately 3.5 hours.

The removable lithium-ion battery can be charged independently, allowing for continuous operation with a spare battery (sold separately).

The vacuum can also be charged directly by plugging the power adapter into the battery while it is attached to the unit.
5. Operating Instructions

Power Modes
The control panel on the handheld unit allows you to select different power modes:
- Hard Floor Setting: Provides gentle suction and brushroll speed for delicate hard floors.
- Carpet Setting: Offers increased suction and brushroll speed for effective carpet cleaning.
- MAX Power Mode: Delivers maximum suction for tough messes. This mode consumes battery power more quickly.
- Extend Runtime Mode: Optimizes battery life for longer cleaning sessions with reduced power.

The control panel features settings for Carpet, Hard Floor, Max Power, and Extend Runtime to optimize cleaning performance.
Lift-Away Hand Vacuum
For above-floor cleaning, car interiors, or stairs, detach the handheld vacuum from the wand:
- Press the wand release button located at the top of the wand.
- Pull the handheld vacuum unit upwards to separate it from the wand.
- Attach desired accessories (e.g., Crevice Tool, Pet Multi-Tool, Anti-Allergen Dust Brush) directly to the handheld vacuum nozzle.

The Lift-Away hand vacuum detaches for versatile cleaning, ideal for car interiors and upholstery.

Utilize specialized attachments with the handheld vacuum to reach tight spaces and clean various surfaces.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance of your vacuum cleaner.
Emptying the Dust Cup
Empty the dust cup after each use or when debris reaches the MAX FILL line.
- Ensure the vacuum is powered off.
- Hold the handheld vacuum over a trash bin.
- Press the dust cup release latch and open the bottom of the dust cup to empty debris.
- Close the dust cup door firmly until it clicks.
Cleaning Filters
Rinse the foam and felt filters regularly to maintain suction power. Frequency depends on usage.
- Ensure the vacuum is powered off and the dust cup is removed.
- Remove the foam and felt filters from the dust cup assembly.
- Rinse filters with cold water only. Do not use soap.
- Allow filters to air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling. Do not use a hairdryer or other heating methods.
Brushroll Maintenance
Periodically check the brushroll for hair, string, or debris that may be wrapped around it. Use scissors to carefully cut away any obstructions.
7. Troubleshooting
If your vacuum is not working correctly, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
- Vacuum not picking up debris: Check if the dust cup is full and empty it. Ensure filters are clean and dry. Check for blockages in the nozzle, wand, or hose.
- Brushroll not spinning: Ensure the vacuum is turned on and in the correct floor setting (Carpet mode activates the brushroll). Check for blockages in the brushroll.
- Vacuum turns off on its own: The vacuum may be overheating. Turn off the vacuum, empty the dust cup, clean filters, and check for blockages. Allow the unit to cool for at least 45 minutes before restarting.
- Battery not charging: Ensure the charger is properly plugged into both the wall outlet and the battery/vacuum. Check if the outlet is functional.
