1. Gather Tools and Parts
Before beginning installation, ensure all necessary tools and parts are available. These typically include a screwdriver, the latch and strike components, interior and exterior assemblies, screws, and mounting fasteners. Do not use an electric drill or electric screwdriver for tightening screws to prevent damage.

2. Door Preparation
Verify your door's dimensions. If installing on a new door, use the provided template and consult online drilling instructions for boreholes. For existing doors, confirm the bottom hole location using the template, ensuring it aligns correctly. If a bottom hole is absent, refer to step 3 in the detailed instructions provided with the product.

3. Latch Installation
Extend the top latch by inserting a screwdriver into the D-shaped hole and rotating it. Adjust the backset if necessary, ensuring the D-shaped hole is centered in the door hole. Install the top latch using the specified screws. For the bottom latch, ensure its slant faces the door's closing direction and secure it with the appropriate screws. Verify the bottom latch is centered with the semicircular hole in the middle; adjust by grasping the pins on both sides if needed.
4. Deadbolt Installation
Insert the exterior torque blade into the turn piece hole, ensuring the curve faces upward. Confirm the interior turn piece is in an upright position. Attach the mounting plate to the interior of the exterior deadbolt (if removed). Insert the interior piece of the deadbolt. Before final tightening, ensure the deadbolt edges are parallel with the door edge and secure with mounting screws.
5. Handleset Installation
Hold the handleset on the exterior of the door, ensuring the round edge of the spindle faces the door edge. If the spindle is misaligned, pull and rotate it to the correct position. Insert the spindle into the semicircular hole of the bottom latch and guide the bottom post through the corresponding hole in the door. The bottom post is adjustable to fit various door preparations; move it to one of the three hole options if necessary.

6. Strike Plates Installation
Ensure your strike holes are drilled at least 1 inch deep. For the top strike plate, use the screws marked in the instructions, drilling the longer screws into the holes closest to the door jamb. For the bottom strike plate, use the screws marked in the instructions.
Operating Instructions
SmartKey Re-Key Technology
The SmartKey Security feature allows you to re-key your lock in three simple steps, providing convenience and enhanced security without needing a locksmith. You will need your current functioning key, your new key, and the SmartKey tool.
- Step 1: Insert the key that currently operates your lock and turn it 90 degrees clockwise.
- Step 2: Fully and firmly insert the included SmartKey tool into the SmartKey hole. Remove the SmartKey tool and the current key.
- Step 3: Fully insert your new key into the lock and rotate it 180 degrees. Rotate the new key 90 degrees back into the straight position and remove it.
Your lock is now re-keyed to your new key. Your old key will no longer operate the lock.

Maintenance
Microban Protection
The handleset is treated with Microban antimicrobial product protection. This technology helps keep the hardware 99.9% cleaner than unprotected surfaces by inhibiting the growth of bacteria that can cause stains and odors. Regular cleaning with a soft, damp cloth is recommended to maintain the finish and effectiveness of the Microban protection. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
Troubleshooting
- Screws Difficult to Tighten: If screws are difficult to tighten during installation, ensure the latch is installed correctly. The interior turn piece should be vertical, the latch bolt extended, and the curve of the exterior torque blade should be facing up.
- Latch Loose in Strike Plate: After installation, close the door to test the latch. If the latch is loose in the strike plate, use a screwdriver to adjust the strike tab to grip the latch bolt better.
