4. Installation

The PNI DF-926 system requires a 4-wire cable connection between the indoor monitor and the outdoor unit for power and signal transmission. Both units require separate power supplies.

4.1 Mounting the Outdoor Unit

  1. Choose a suitable location near your entrance, ensuring the camera has a clear view of visitors. The recommended height is approximately 1.5 meters (5 feet) from the ground.
  2. Use the provided fixing accessories to securely mount the outdoor unit to a wall.
  3. Ensure the unit is protected from direct heavy rain if possible, despite its IP54 rating.

4.2 Mounting the Indoor Monitor

  1. Select a convenient indoor location, such as a living room or hallway, where the monitor is easily accessible.
  2. Attach the wall mount bracket to the wall using the provided screws and wall plugs.
  3. Carefully hang the indoor monitor onto the bracket.

4.3 Wiring Connections

  1. Connect the 4-wire cable from the outdoor unit to the designated terminals on the indoor monitor. Refer to the wiring diagram in the full manual for specific terminal assignments.
  2. Connect the 15V power supply to the indoor monitor.
  3. Connect the 12V power supply to the outdoor unit. Important: Ensure the outdoor unit receives continuous 12V power for proper operation, even when the indoor monitor is off.
  4. If connecting an electric door lock (purchased separately), connect its wires to the designated lock output terminals on the indoor monitor (12V/1A, 0.3s output).

Warning: Incorrect wiring can damage the system. If you are unsure, consult a qualified electrician.

5. Operation

5.1 Answering a Call

When a visitor presses the call button on the outdoor unit, the indoor monitor will ring and display the visitor's image. Press the 'Answer' button (typically a phone icon) on the monitor to establish two-way audio communication.

5.2 Monitoring

To view the outdoor area at any time without a visitor call, press the 'Monitor' button (often an eye icon) on the indoor monitor. The screen will display the live video feed from the outdoor camera.

5.3 Unlocking the Door

During a call or while monitoring, press the 'Unlock' button (typically a key icon) on the indoor monitor to activate the electric door lock and allow entry. Ensure an electric lock is properly connected for this function.

5.4 Two-Way Intercom

The system supports two-way audio communication for up to 2 minutes during a call or monitoring session.

5.5 Adjusting Settings

The indoor monitor allows adjustment of volume and melody. Consult the full manual for specific button functions and menu navigation to customize these settings.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your video intercom system.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the indoor monitor and outdoor unit. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Environmental Conditions: The outdoor unit is rated IP54, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and splashing water. However, avoid direct exposure to high-pressure water jets or prolonged submersion. The system operates within a temperature range of -26°C to +60°C.
