Setup

Unpacking

1. Carefully remove the iron and all accessories from the packaging.
2. Remove any protective films or stickers from the soleplate and the appliance.
3. Ensure all components are present and undamaged.

Filling the Water Tank

1. Remove the water tank from the base unit by pulling it upwards.
2. Open the filling cap and fill the tank with clean tap water up to the 'MAX' level indicator.
3. Close the filling cap securely and reinsert the water tank into the base unit until it clicks into place.

Initial Use

1. Place the steam generator on a stable, flat, and heat-resistant surface.
2. Unwind the power cord completely and plug it into a grounded electrical outlet.
3. Press the On/Off button to switch on the appliance. The indicator light will illuminate.
4. Allow the iron to heat up. This typically takes approximately 2 minutes. The steam ready indicator light will stop flashing and remain solid when ready.
5. For the first use, or if the iron has not been used for a long time, press the steam trigger several times away from garments to prime the steam system and remove any condensation.

Operating Instructions

Selecting Fabric Settings

1. Once the iron is heated, select the appropriate fabric setting on the control panel. The available settings are Synthetics, Silk, Wool, Cotton, and Linen.
2. The iron will automatically adjust the soleplate temperature and steam output for the selected fabric type.
3. Always check the garment's care label for recommended ironing instructions.

Ironing Techniques

• Standard Ironing: Place the garment on the ironing board. Press the steam trigger on the iron handle to release steam as you glide the iron over the fabric.
• Steam Boost: For stubborn creases, press the steam boost button (if available on your model) or press the steam trigger rapidly multiple times to activate a powerful burst of steam.
• Vertical Steaming: The iron can be used for vertical steaming of hanging garments, curtains, or drapes. Hold the iron a few centimeters away from the fabric and press the steam trigger.
• Dry Ironing: If you wish to iron without steam, simply do not press the steam trigger.

When finished ironing, press the On/Off button to turn off the appliance and unplug it from the mains socket. Allow the iron to cool down completely before storing.

Maintenance

Descaling (Removable Scale Collector)

Your Tefal Pro Express Care iron is equipped with a Removable Scale Collector to simplify descaling and maintain optimal steam performance. The 'Calc' indicator light on the control panel will illuminate when the collector needs cleaning.

1. Ensure the appliance is unplugged and has cooled down completely (at least 2 hours after use).
2. Locate the Scale Collector on the side of the base unit.
3. Unscrew and remove the collector.
4. Rinse the collector thoroughly under running water to remove any scale particles.
5. Screw the clean collector back into its housing until it is secure.
6. Press the 'Reset' button (if available) or follow the manual's specific instructions to reset the 'Calc' indicator.

Cleaning the Soleplate

• Allow the soleplate to cool completely.
• Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth or a non-abrasive sponge.
