3. Setup and First Use
Before installing your new PUR PLUS filter, follow these steps to ensure optimal performance:
- Unpack the Filter: Remove the new PUR PLUS filter from its sealed packaging.
- Soak the Filter: Submerge the filter completely in cold tap water for 15 minutes. This helps to prime the filter and remove any loose carbon particles.
- Rinse the Filter: After soaking, hold the filter under cold running tap water for 10 seconds to rinse it thoroughly.
- Install the Filter:
- Remove the old filter from your PUR pitcher or dispenser by twisting it counter-clockwise and pulling it out.
- Insert the new, rinsed filter into the filter housing.
- Twist the filter clockwise until it locks securely into place. Ensure a snug fit to prevent leaks.
- Fill the System: Fill the top reservoir of your PUR pitcher or dispenser with cold tap water. Allow the water to filter through completely into the lower chamber. Discard the first full reservoir of filtered water to flush any remaining carbon dust.
- Reset Filter Indicator: If your PUR system has a filter life indicator (e.g., a button on the spout), press and hold it for 5 seconds until the light flashes green. This resets the timer for your new filter.

4. Operating Instructions
Using your PUR PLUS filtered water system is straightforward:
- Filling: Always fill the top reservoir with cold tap water. The filter will process the water as it passes through to the lower chamber.
- Dispensing: For pitchers, simply pour water from the spout. For dispensers, use the integrated spigot to dispense filtered water.
- Optimal Filtration: Allow the water to fully filter through before dispensing to ensure all water has passed through the filtration media.

5. Maintenance and Filter Replacement
To maintain optimal water quality and filtration performance, regular filter replacement is crucial.
Filter Life:
Each PUR PLUS Water Pitcher & Dispenser Replacement Filter is engineered for up to 40 gallons of filtered water or 2 months of regular use, whichever comes first. Your system's filter life indicator will help you track this.

Replacement Steps:
Follow the "Setup and First Use" instructions (Section 3) to replace your filter. It is the same process for ongoing replacements.
