Setup and First Use

Unpacking:

  1. Carefully remove the oven and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Remove any packing materials, stickers, or protective films from the oven and its components.
  3. Inspect the oven for any damage. Do not use if damaged.

Placement:

Initial Cleaning:

  1. Before first use, wipe the exterior of the oven with a damp cloth.
  2. Wash the cooking racks, baking pans, roasting rack, and rotisserie accessories in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  3. Insert the cooking racks and baking pan into the oven.

First Burn-Off:

It is normal for a new oven to produce some smoke or odor during its first use. This is due to protective oils burning off. To minimize this, operate the oven empty for approximately 15 minutes at the highest temperature setting (e.g., 230°C / 450°F) in a well-ventilated area. After this, allow the oven to cool completely before use.

Operating Instructions

The Hamilton Beach 31103-MX oven features three control knobs: Temperature, Function, and Timer.

Control Panel Overview:

General Operation:

  1. Place food on the appropriate rack or pan.
  2. Close the oven door securely.
  3. Turn the Temperature Knob to the desired temperature.
  4. Turn the Function Knob to the desired cooking mode.
  5. Turn the Timer Knob to the desired cooking time. The oven will begin heating. A bell will sound when the timer expires.

Convection Baking:

The convection function circulates hot air for faster and more even cooking. This is ideal for baking items like muffins, cookies, and casseroles.

  1. Place food on a baking pan or directly on a cooking rack.
  2. Set the Temperature Knob to the desired temperature (often slightly lower than conventional recipes).
  3. Turn the Function Knob to the Convection Bake setting.
  4. Set the Timer Knob for the desired cooking duration.

  2. Insert the assembled rotisserie spit into the oven's rotisserie sockets.
  3. Place the roasting pan below the rotisserie to catch drippings.
