4. Setup and Installation

5. Operating Instructions
Once installed, the smoke alarm is continuously monitoring for smoke. The green LED light indicates normal operation. In the event of smoke detection, the alarm will sound an 85-decibel alert and provide voice warnings.
5.1. Testing the Alarm
Press and hold the Test-Hush button located on the front of the alarm. The alarm will sound, indicating that the unit is functioning correctly. Test your smoke alarm weekly to ensure proper operation.

5.2. Hush Feature
If a nuisance alarm occurs (e.g., from cooking fumes or shower steam), press the Test-Hush button to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The alarm will automatically reset after the hush period if no smoke is present.
6. Maintenance
The Kidde P3010B smoke alarm requires minimal maintenance due to its 10-year sealed battery. However, regular cleaning and awareness of its end-of-life status are important.
6.1. Cleaning
Clean the smoke alarm annually. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the alarm's vents. Do not paint the alarm.

After approximately 10 years of operation, the alarm will emit an end-of-life chirp, indicating that the unit needs to be replaced. This chirp signifies that the battery and sensor have reached the end of their useful life. Replace the entire unit promptly.
