1. Safety Instructions
Always read and understand all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear appropriate eye protection (safety glasses), hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, and sturdy footwear when operating the hedge trimmer. Long pants and sleeves are also recommended.
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Operate the hedge trimmer only in daylight or good artificial light. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Tool Operation: Always hold the hedge trimmer with both hands firmly on the handles. Ensure the two-hand safety switch is engaged before starting. Never operate the tool with one hand.
- Blade Safety: Keep hands and feet away from the cutting blades. Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Ensure the blade guard is in place when the tool is not in use or during transport.
- Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery pack and charger. Do not modify or attempt to repair the battery pack or charger. Protect the battery from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture.
- Maintenance: Disconnect the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Regularly inspect the blades for damage and ensure all fasteners are tight.

5.2. General Cutting Tips

Figure 5.1: Proper technique for trimming a hedge with the Einhell cordless hedge trimmer.
- Inspect the Hedge: Before starting, check the hedge for any foreign objects such as wires, fences, or hidden debris that could damage the blades.
- Clear the Area: Ensure the area around the hedge is clear of people, pets, and obstacles.
- Cutting Motion: Use a smooth, sweeping motion to cut the hedge. For best results, cut the top of the hedge first, then the sides.
- Blade Capacity: The hedge trimmer is designed for trimming branches up to a certain diameter (refer to specifications). Do not force the blades through thicker branches.
- Battery Life: Monitor the battery charge level. If the cutting performance decreases, it may indicate a low battery.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your hedge trimmer. Always disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance.
6.1. Cleaning
- After each use, remove any debris, leaves, and sap from the blades and housing using a stiff brush or cloth.
- Do not use water or cleaning solvents directly on the tool, as this can damage electrical components.
- Clean the ventilation slots to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating.
6.2. Blade Care
- Lubrication: Apply a light machine oil or blade lubricant to the cutting blades after each use to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
- Sharpening: If the cutting performance diminishes, the blades may need sharpening. This should be done by a qualified service technician or with appropriate sharpening tools, following manufacturer guidelines.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the blades for any signs of damage, such as bends, cracks, or excessive wear. Damaged blades should be replaced immediately.
6.3. Storage

Figure 6.1: Storing the hedge trimmer using its integrated wall mount holder.
- Always attach the blade guard before storing the hedge trimmer.
- Store the tool in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Keep the tool out of reach of children and unauthorized persons.
- For long-term storage, remove the battery from the tool and store it separately in a cool, dry place.
