1. Important Safety Instructions
Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this machine. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Ensure the machine is properly grounded and connected to a 400V, 50Hz power supply.
- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
- Disconnect the power plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.
- Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation.
- Use only genuine Holzmann replacement parts and accessories.
2. Setup and Assembly
2.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully unpack the Holzmann BS 712TOP bandsaw. Inspect all components for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. Report any damage immediately to your dealer.
2.2 Electrical Connection
This machine requires a 400V, 50Hz power supply. Ensure your electrical installation meets these requirements and that the machine is properly grounded by a qualified electrician.
2.3 Blade Installation and Tensioning
The bandsaw uses a blade with dimensions 2360 x 20 x 0.9 mm. Refer to the machine's labels for correct blade direction. Install the blade carefully, ensuring it is seated correctly on the wheels and within the blade guides. Adjust the blade tension according to the manufacturer's recommendations to prevent breakage and ensure straight cuts.
2.4 Coolant System Setup
The machine is equipped with a standard coolant pump. Fill the coolant reservoir with an appropriate metalworking coolant. Ensure all coolant lines are securely connected and free from leaks. The coolant system helps to extend blade life and improve cut quality.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Control Panel Overview
Familiarize yourself with the control panel before operation. The panel typically includes the main power switch and an emergency stop button.

Image: The main control panel featuring a green 'ON' button, a red 'OFF' button, and a prominent yellow emergency stop switch for immediate power cut-off.
3.2 Powering On/Off
- To turn on the machine, press the green 'ON' button on the control panel.
- To turn off the machine, press the red 'OFF' button.
- In case of emergency, press the large yellow emergency stop button to immediately cut power to the machine.
3.3 Speed Adjustment
The bandsaw offers four blade speeds: 22, 33, 45, or 65 meters per minute. Select the appropriate speed based on the material type and thickness being cut. Consult a material cutting speed chart for optimal results.
3.4 Material Clamping and Vise Adjustment
Secure the workpiece firmly in the pivoting vise. The vise can be adjusted to accommodate various material sizes and angles up to +/- 45°. Ensure the material is stable and cannot shift during the cut.
3.5 Cutting Operation and Automatic Stop
Initiate the cut. The machine features a hydraulic cylinder for controlled descent, allowing for easy adjustment of the feed rate. The automatic stop function will halt the machine once the cut is complete, enhancing safety and efficiency.

4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Holzmann BS 712TOP bandsaw. Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before performing any maintenance.
4.1 Cleaning
After each use, clean the machine, especially the cutting area, blade guides, and coolant tray. The machine is designed with iron filings deviation to help manage debris, but manual cleaning is still necessary.
4.2 Blade Replacement
Replace the blade when it becomes dull or damaged. Follow the blade installation instructions in Section 2.3. Ensure the new blade is of the correct size (2360 x 20 x 0.9 mm) and type for metal cutting.
4.3 Coolant System Maintenance
Regularly check the coolant level and replenish as needed. Periodically drain and clean the coolant reservoir to prevent bacterial growth and maintain coolant effectiveness. Inspect coolant lines for blockages or damage.
4.4 Blade Guide and Bearing Maintenance
The machine features ball-bearing blade guides. Inspect these guides regularly for wear and proper alignment. Lubricate moving parts as recommended in the full service manual (not provided here).
5. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common operational issues. For problems not listed here, contact qualified service personnel.
- Machine does not start: Check power connection, emergency stop button, and main power switch. Ensure circuit breaker is not tripped.
- Blade breaks frequently: Check blade tension, ensure correct blade speed for material, inspect blade guides for wear or misalignment, and verify proper feed rate.
- Inaccurate or crooked cuts: Check blade tension, blade guides, and ensure the workpiece is securely clamped in the vise.
- Coolant not flowing: Check coolant level, pump operation, and coolant lines for blockages.
- Excessive vibration or noise: Inspect blade for damage, check blade tension, and examine all fasteners for tightness.
