WARNING: Always turn off the main water supply before attempting any installation, repair, or maintenance on your faucet. Failure to do so may result in water damage or personal injury.

  • Ensure the water supply is completely shut off before removing any existing faucet or disassembling the valve.
  • Open the faucet handle to relieve any residual water pressure and confirm that the water supply is fully off.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, during installation.
  • If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified plumber.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:

  • Moen 9480 Commercial One-Handle Lavatory Faucet (Chrome)
  • Mounting hardware
  • 3/8" compression flexible supply lines
  • Red and Blue plastic temperature indicators
  • Installation instructions (this manual)

4. Setup and Installation

The Moen 9480 faucet is designed for single-hole deck-mount installation. Follow these steps for proper setup:

  1. Prepare the Mounting Surface: Ensure the sink or countertop has a single faucet hole. Clean the area thoroughly.
  2. Install the Faucet: Insert the faucet body into the mounting hole. From underneath the sink, secure the faucet using the provided mounting hardware. Tighten the nuts evenly to ensure a stable installation. The faucet features a vandal-resistant hex screw design to deter tampering.
  3. Connect Water Supply Lines: Attach the 3/8" compression flexible supply lines to the hot and cold water supply valves. Ensure connections are hand-tight, then use a wrench for a final quarter-turn. Do not overtighten.
  4. Adjust Temperature Limit Stop (Optional): The brass construction includes adjustable temperature limit stops for anti-scalding protection. Refer to the detailed diagram (if available in physical manual) for adjusting the hot water limit.
  5. Check for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check all connections for leaks. If leaks are present, gently tighten the connections until they stop.

6. Maintenance

Proper care will help preserve the finish and functionality of your Moen faucet.

  • Cleaning the Finish: To preserve the chrome finish, clean regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.
  • Wax Application: For added protection and shine, apply a non-abrasive wax, such as car wax, to the metallic parts of your Moen faucet.
  • Rinsing Cleaners: If any cleaners are used, rinse them off immediately with water to prevent damage to the finish. Mild abrasives are acceptable only on Platinum and LifeShine® finishes, which does not apply to this Chrome model.
  • Aerator Cleaning: Periodically unscrew the aerator at the end of the spout and clean any debris or mineral buildup. Rinse thoroughly and reattach.
